Guest of Honor Badges

How do I do that? Who do I call? I don't actually want a CM to "give" him one, I would like to purchase one ahead of time, have it waiting for us at check in, and have the CM "hand it" to him. He'll never know I arranged it and it would make him feel so special!

Right. I knew you weren't asking for a free one but since CMs get so many requests they won't hand a guest of honor badge to your child. You can always ask but I don't want you to be disapointed if they say no. You can contact Walt Disney World Florist at (407) 827-3505. They do personalized gift baskets but they aren't cheap.

If you don't need an unusual name you should be able to get them through WDW merchandise.

They are so easy to get once you get to WDW that unless you must have them before your trip I would just make a stop once you get there. There is also a shop in DTD that carries them as well so you don't have to visit a park to get them.

I got mine through magicalmountain.net (under Disney Special Requests, I think) but I don't think they could get them out to you fast enough. The gentleman that I worked with picked up a whole bunch of little things I needed to make up gift baskets for my kids: GOH badges, bottle straps, autograph books and pens, cookies, hot chocolate, passports, and more. They charge the cost of the item plus 25%. I was very happy with them. It cost more than buying it all myself, but I wanted it ahead of time and Gifts of a Lifetime didn't have all that I wanted. Besides, Magical Mountain allowed me to be very specific as to what I wanted. He then emailed me a picture of everything for approval before I paid. It all arrived very well packaged, too.

I don't know if that helps anyone or not!

Do you rememeber which shop and where it is in DTD? Believe it or not, I have NEVER been to DTD and if I don't know approximately where I'm going, I'll be lost!!! (of course, that's not always a BAD thing--maybe they'll think I belong there and I can just live in a store room or somthing!!!) I think I've decided that I'm going to try this instead of trying to get it ahead of time. Going to DTD will be a new adventure!!! Thanks for the suggetion!

jcemom--I did try magicalmountain.net, but you're right, they can't get it for me in time. That's both good and bad: on one hand I'll have to wait til we get there. On the other hand, we're SO CLOSE to going, it wouldn't arrive here in time!!!!:teeth: You gave me some GREAT ideas though for other things that I can purchase for him!!! Bottle straps and autograph book are "must haves". Maybe I can get everything at one place in DTD and then let the Magic begin!!!

Thanks for all for your suggestions!

Tag Fairy--I'm still clappin' and still believin'!! Only 3 days til my birthday. Tags are WONDERFUL gifts!!!!

Joshsmom - let us know how it worked out. I was there a couple of weeks ago and didn't notice any changes in the GOH badges so let us know what happened!!

Thanks, Beth

pewing, Wish I had seen your post before we left, I just live a few miles from Huntsville and would have been happy to get them for you! We had to get a new one for my youngest son as somehow he broke off the clip/saftey pin portion and also bought one for my husband since he didn't want one last trip. Only thing different I noticed is they now only had Mickey GOH badges whereas a couple of years ago, 2000, when we first bought ours, they had Mickey, Minnie, Pooh & Tigger. Also seemed like there were fewer pre-engraved name selections. Last time we had to select and come back a few hours later, this trip they did them while we waited and took less than 5 minutes to make 3 of them. I can try to find that receipt and see if their is a phone number and perhaps they could ship direct to you vs. going through WDW Merchandising. This shop was located at MGM. Email if you want me to look for the phone number.

I got mine at 5 and 10 in MGM , one of them was easy to find , the other two had to be special order and they did it pretty quick too , but as someone stated also, they are sold in downtown disney too, if you don't know where exactly, all you have to do is ask one of the CM's and they will tell you exactly where to go.
I know we loved ours, and my kids will not go without theirs on.

As a previous poster has replied, the badges are sold in the Days of Christmas store in Downtown Disney. I picked up 5 of them last Labor Day weekend for our trip with the kids in December. The badges are located in a room near the back where they do engraving and personalizing of all kinds of items (if I remember correctly). I had to have 4 of mine engraved and it did not take long at all. The cost was $5 each, and engraving was free.

Have a wonderful, magical trip, Joshsmom! You'll be there when my BIL, SIL, and their 4 yr son will be there too...hope all your wishes come true!

I had difficulty getting GOH badges beforehand so the first thing we did when we arrived was head to DTD Days of Christmas Store and within a few minutes we had 2 badges custom made.

If you are taking a resort bus to get to DTD the store is at the entrance where the bus drops you off. It is there to your immediate left.

A few days later I wanted to purchase badges for 4 of my nephews. 3 names were very common but they did not have them. The wait was going to be over an hour to engrave the names, but we were leaving DTD. It was no problem having them delivered free of charge to the resort. And they arrived before noon the following day.

Oh...I wish we could have hooked up  It's nice of you to think of me. I would like the number...if you can put your finger on it. I called Merchandising, but they can't do 'customizing'. I tried to assure them that my guys have 'ordinary' names, but didn't want to push it

josh's mom~Did you find one?

They must be changing them as I was in the Character Outlet today and they had a whole wall of the red ones for $1.99. Not all names were available but most were. I will look in MK tommorow and see if a new one is offered.

Here's hoping they bring back some of the different styles!

We got ours through Gifts of a Lifetime (waiting in our room when we arrived) in December 2000 with four different styles: green with Tigger for hubby, blue with Pooh for me, a navy blue Minnie for dd and the red Mickey for ds.

When we returned to WDW in 2002, the only ones available were the red Mickeys. People asked us about the other styles all through the week.

Where is Gifts of a Lifetime?? Is that a store or is that a place online? It would be nice to have different styles...but even just the red ones are TOO cute!

By the way I noticed your next Disney days are Dec. 16-23..those are the exact days we just booked..and are also coming from Texas!! Maybe we'll see ya there:wave:

Janet

We all wore them on our trip in Dec. We had a blast with the CMs knowing our names.

One day a woman kept staring at me and finally she said, "what makes you an honored guest?" She said it with such disgust in her voice that I said, "we're special that's why." I then turned and walked away. Some people will never get or experience the magic of Disney. One doesn't have to "be special" to "be special" at Disney Wordl

Lori

Hi Janet: Cool! Our countdown timers are exactly the same -- even to the second! We'll be flying out of Houston, probably on the first American Airlines flight (or possibly a nonstop Southwest) the morning of the 16th.

Gifts of a Llifetime is the online store, but it seems that no one is even selling the red ones right now, so maybe that means there are some new styles on the horizon.

Lori: We've run into one or two people with attitudes, too. It's amazing that a few people think they are entitled to be the center of the universe, and they can make anything into a slight. Poor them.

I'm holding out...and hoping the 'new' badges will be out in time to pre-order them. Having them in the room would be great.

My boys REALLY need these...they ARE guests of honor (in mama's book ;) ) Too bad everyone doesn't have someone who teaches them that they are special.

PD for everyone ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I was just on http://www.giftsofalifetime.com/shopping.html and it seems like you can order the red ones, but there is a big note that says "WDW is in the process to changing the design of the GOH badge. As soon as the change is made we will carry the new designs. DO NOT PLACE YOUR ORDER IF YOU DO NOT WANT THE CURRENT DESIGN"

When I typed my name and clicked "add to cart", it seemed to work.

Maybe you could try that?
