Hi

Has anyone been to the Guest House Lounge recently.
I have been quoted £10 adults and £8 children which includes 2 alcoholic drinks/free soft drinks, snacks, etc and wonder if its worth it.
Any help please

Thanks

Last time I was there (August 2003) it was well worth it. Very quiet and very relaxing before the flight home.

We went to the Guest House last August before our flight home. It's a fantastic facility and well worth the £10. You can store your hand luggage there, browse the web and play on a PlayStation 2 as well.

The only problem when we were there was that it was standing room only. I guess at some times of the year you might have to get there early to get a seat!

We used it at the end of August & it was quiet!

Would recommend it and use it again, we paid at the airport & i think that was more expensive than paying over here before you go.

You are given a plastic wrist band & can wander in & out. Dh & I loved the quiet room with comfy settees for reading our books. Newspapers & mags were also provided.

Yes it was 2 alcholic drinks per adult & unlimitted coffee & soft drinks. Ther e were also free biscuits & cake though not very fancy ones. & savoury nibbles.

Youngest DS was well pleased with the PS2 & DD was glued to the films. I went on the internet.
there was also a small playroom for little ones.

You can order food at the bar & it is brought in for you to eat there. Not a great choice, sarnies , hot dogs & chips I think, but quieter than in the main part of airport.

it was also nice having somewhere to leave hand-luggage & not have to carry it around,

We've booked it for our return journey, it sounds great :D

This sounds good! I've got a few questions on it:

I'm going to be departing for Orlando on Saturday on Air2000. Can I still book the lounge with TCD even though I have not booked through them or are there other ways to book it?

If I can book with them, how do I do this: by phone or can you do it on their website?

Finally, do they send you anything in the post or do they just give them a reference number when you turn up at the lounge at Sanford?

Thanks,
Ant.

Edit: Just thought, how much does it cost if you just turn up at Sanford? Since the exchange rate is so good maybe it works out cheaper?

We used this in September 2003.

An excellent service, much more relaxing than the main hall.

The price for turn ups is $20, the price through TCD was £10.

There is a website for the airport/lounge, do a google for it, I don't think you can book that way but you could get their number and take it from there.

I'd be tempted to just call TCD and see if you can book through them.

One thing to be aware of is that you will be called through to your flight about an hour and quarter ahead of schedule, so if you want to use the lounge to the full you'll have to be at the airport early. Sort of defeats the object but something I would do again, turn up early and beat the checking in queue, which was horrendous, and relax in the lounge instead of standing in a poorly air conditioned hall surrounded by others with glum going home faces. ;-(

We've never been to Sanford Airport but will be going in April. Is there much seating in the general terminal area? Looking at the website, it looks a bit bare! I wouldn't mind paying to use the Guest House facility but it sounds like even that gets busy sometimes
