I realize members can't combine concurrent reservations at one resort using different home resorts.

Curious as to the success rates of other members who have requested that two different reservations (using separate memberships) be linked.

My intent to not change rooms & just revisit the lobby on the first check out day

Did chat with MS & ask if the 2 'new' WL days be combined into one reservation. Got the "no" I expected.

I then inquired if there was a decent chance of requesting the two WL res be noted as one. CM said she'd put a note on reservation. Said no guarantee and had no idea how that tends to work out

Background:

Originally, had a WL trip booked for early Dec, then a cruise & back to stay @ AK

Now, need to come home right after the cruise for an event. Began process of waitlisting awhile ago to try and add two or three days onto beginning of trip

Since such a busy week & wanting a studio, didn't have high hopes. Has been an interesting process.

Shockingly, SSR came thru quickly for 3 days

Then, grabbed the day prior to existing WL res (waitlisting) using AK points & sat on it

Then, found OKW for 2 days (stalking)

Noticed this weekend that another day came thru on WL (via waitlist) to give us two days on the front end. 😊

DVC might not be able to link them since you are using two different memberships but the resort itself should be able to as long as the lead guest is the same.

Ok, encouraging to read! Would be nice not to have to pack up after two nights

For those who were able to
Stay in in the same room, when did you get that confirmation?

At checkin or upon checking in for the 2nd part of the stay?

My success rate for linking (continuous stay) of DVC ressies made with different UY/Membership has been 100%. And with 5 UYs - I do it all the time…
Same here, I have several use years, and sometimes I have 3 or 4 reservations of the same type to ‘continue’. I have 100% success rate with doing this many times; they always note as a ‘continuing reservation’. I guess they are obligated to say it is not totally guaranteed, but we have never had to move, and this option works out best not only for us but also for DVC housekeeping.

I'm not brave enough to add on with a different use year but I'm glad that those who do seem to not have an issue with linking the reservations.

Yup, I linked 2 reservations from different memberships together. I had it noted on both that they would be continuing reservations and added the confirmation numbers. And then when i arrived, i went to the front desk to reiterate the request for the same room the whole time. it was no problem and we did not have to move.

I would think you will have pretty good luck, it's just not guaranteed. It keeps housekeeping from having to clean and flip a room for a new guest so it's in their interest to keep you in the same room if at all possible.

Yes, just have MS note on both reservations that it's a "continuous stay." And check at the front desk when you arrive for the first segment.
