Guess who's working at WDW this summer? LAST BLOG UPDATE: 8/10

... and the weather hasn't gotten grossly humid yet.
Yes, keep us up to date on that. One of our WDW trips was at the end of August, and we swore never again. I'm wondering how a CM copes.

Keep up the report on how "California boys braves the Florida summer humidity". I am curious if you still sound so chipper come August. ;)

Honestly, you get used to it. It's the bugs that are the problem, lol.

This is my second summer here in Florida, and I'm no less the worse for wear. Unless you count the bug bites, lol.

Are you doing the CP that runs until beginning of January, or is it the summer alumni program?

Either way, I'm sure you'll have a ton of fun! I really want to do the WDW CP after I graduate from law school, so I can say I've done both, but I really should go into a law job. Being grown up sucks sometimes, lol.

Now that I read the link, it makes a little more sense. I wish they had something like that for the CP besides the alumni summer program, because it doesn't work with my schedule :(

Truth be told, it's neither. It's a special programme, established in partnership between Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Casting Services and Campus Crusade for Christ. Administratively, they're treated somewhat the same as Disney College Program participants, but have special dispensations with regards to housing and scheduling not afforded to other participants.

It fills a mutual need in that it helps round out staffing for the summer season, while affording Campus Crusade for Christ the opportunity to realise their religious-based objectives.

Anyway, congratulations! I think you'll find that the Walt Disney World Resort is a little different, both for obvious reasons and culture-wise, than the Disneyland Resort. However, I've worked both, and I can honestly say that I enjoy both just about as equally :).

Thanks everyone for the support!

Went to IoA today. The weather was great again! I'll enjoy the lack of humidity for as long as it lasts. Crowds were...NONEXISTANT! For a holiday, I thought there would be more people there. Nope. The longest wait I saw all day was 30 min for the Forbidden Journey. I actually left early because I did all that I wanted to do and more.

I rode:
-Forbidden Journey x5. Seriously, this ride is freakin amazing! And the line is very well themed too. I rode 3 times with the Single Rider line, where I waited 5 min each time. Then I wanted to see the whole queue so I waited 20 min once and another 5 min later in the day.

-Spiderman, Hulk, and each of the Dragons x3. And the other rides once or twice for a grand total of 28 rides in 10 hours (yes, that includes lunch and the 30 min Sinbad show).

Overall, I was very impressed with Universal Orlando, as a resort, although it's very different from Disney. Universal was definitely worse are predicting ride wait times, but they've got the child swap system down like none other. Subtle differences here and there, but they certainly provide a similar high-quality theme park experience. Oh, and the Forbidden Journey...Go ride it!

I start the Summer Project at WDW tomorrow! :woohoo::woohoo:

P.S. I forgot to mention this yesterday but at USO on Sunday, I auditioned and was selected to be one of the contestants for their "Fear Factor Live" show! It was a lot of fun too! I even won the first challenge (holding onto a bar suspended in the air with giant fans blowing at you), but unfortunately me and my teammate lost the second one and were eliminated. Still, it was a cool opportunity.

Just Around the Riverbend! First blog update since beginning the Summer Project. :goodvibes

Walking through the underground tunnels at Magic Kingdom and visiting Campus Crusade's national headquarters...A Whole New World update 6/9. :)

It's official now that you have your nametag!

Your very own CM name tag! How exciting! Can't wait to read about your first day on the job!

On a side note, I went to DHS last night and rode the new Star Tours for the first time. It was awesome! Our ride went to a snowy planet (sorry I'm not a Star Wars fanatic, I don't know the official names) and we went underwater and saw Jar Jar. Another group from our summer project also went on it last night and got to go to the Death Star and a different planet. And the 3D was really neat! :thumbsup2

I think you goal should be to see ever ride sequence over this summer. It will be a challenge, but you might get in enough DHS visits to do it.

Oh my goodness, Stephen! I haven't been on the Dis all that much, and I don't ever visit the community board, but just stumbled across this thread this morning, and then read your most recent blog post. I guess I've got a lot of catching up to do!!

Congratulations on your internship this summer in WDW, and I loved reading about you sharing your faith at the beach. I'm excited to hear what God has in store for you!

I like how if I see your thread pop up, I can check to see if you have a new update! Will read it a little later.
