Thanks! I wasn't able to find out if it changed from the original 1948 version to the boys I remember from the 80s. There were at least 3 clues that were wrong and a few others that are debatable!

Maybe it's some twisted way to say that gallantry itself is dead! For those of who don't know it, the magazine is called "Highlights" and it's a Christian magazine. I read it when I was a kid and it can be found in many doctor's waiting rooms.
