Guardians of the Galaxy stratgeies

That would be a great idea, but I'm not sure where we'd be able to stay indoors for the afternoon. Our hotel in Orlando proper, about an hour each way from Disney. None of the Disney hotels do day rates. There's always multiple showings of Hall of Presidents I suppose...
If you're able - one thing I love to do is resort hop. They genuinely don't mind if you hang around even if you're not staying there. It's a fun way to get to know the rest of the resort.

There's a segment of folks who legitimately will work while at WDW. I've worked at the lounge in Yacht Club before, and it was great. Contemporary has some quiet spots (with big sofas) on the second floor (where some of the meeting halls are). Some folks talk up the second floor of Wilderness Lodge and Voyageur's Lounge at Riviera.

Even if you're not working - there's a lot of shopping (etc) at the bigger resorts. You could easily spend an afternoon hopping the MK resorts - start at Contemporary and move to the next via the monorail. Stay as long at each as you'd like.

(We also used to sometimes hit a movie at Disney Springs during the peak summer afternoon.)

Okay that's probably the smartest plan... what if instead we were stupid and... got a 1 day park hopper. Got up at 7am to get Guardians VQ and LLSP for "afternoon"

One more thing to add - the LLSP can also sell out. If you wait till 7am on the day it may well be sold out - so you'd need to get that in advance (up to 3 days in advance, or 7+ days if you're staying at a Disney resort).

Plus you aren't necessarily guaranteed to get a VQ at 7am - they can sometimes be gone within seconds. I didn't get one a couple of weeks ago despite mashing the refresh button at 7am - when people say to time your refreshing with the atomic clock they aren't kidding!

There is another VQ at 1pm which doesn't seem to be gone so quickly. Although you need to have checked into Epcot to be able to join the queue and it still goes relatively quickly (typically minutes rather than seconds).

Got up at 7am to get Guardians VQ and LLSP for "afternoon" along with LL for Tower of Terror, Expedition Everest, and something at MK. Left work stuff at lunch time. Got to the parks around 1pmish, to hit HS with Tower of Terror and a meal at Hollywood Derby, then take the boat to EPCOT, do our VQ & LLSP at Guardians, take a Minnie Van to AK for Everest, then take Minnie Van to MK to close out the day with whatever we can at HEA. That's crazy, but, uh, a better value right? Of course, the timing for the VQ and LLSP would have to work out but we could be flexible with AK/EE and HS/ToT.
There is no way that you could do all of this in four hours. Are you planning on staying until park close?
