Guaranteed connecting rooms?

I booked our trip through a AAA travel agent for 2 rooms at POR for our family of 7 (2 adults, 5 kids under 16). When I asked him about requesting connecting rooms, he said that because we were one family on one package, Disney will guarantee us connecting rooms. I was under the impression they "do their best" but won't guarantee it. So, I'm wondering if I should still have the request for connecting rooms on our reservation or not?

From what I know the only time Disney will guarantee connecting rooms is when there is a handicapped situation. This is what I was told yesterday when I called WDTC for a client. As an agent, I have ALWAYS been told that connecting rooms are a "request" not a "guarantee".

Disney will guarantee connecting rooms if the party has only two adults traveling with multiple children. If there are three adults, they will not guarantee connecting.

If he said "they will guarrantee it" I would get that in writing on my ressie! I think Disney can do what ever they want to. If you have small kids or a GOOD reason to guarrantee it, then it makes sense for them to do it. If they guarrentee it and they cannot accommadate you, then the games begin. I had guarranteed non-smoking due to asthma (which we have -- unfortunately) and they could not give us 1 room h20 view at the a YC non-smoking? So we got upgrade from h20 -view to h20-view concerige for a week. (they had to). OR had to move us to a comparable resort. Now they might not be able to move you somewhere else OR you might not want to move somewhere else, BUT you might get something off your bill? Or other insentives, paid dinner? But they should compensate you. There are alot of "connecting rooms" and they should be able to work something out.

When I called CRO, I was told they only guarantee connecting rooms if there are more children than adults in the party. We had 3 adults and 2 kids so he could not guarantee the rooms for us.

Disney will guarantee connecting rooms if the party has only two adults traveling with multiple children. If there are three adults, they will not guarantee connecting.

This is the policy. Once you go over the 2 adults, they it puts an adult in the second room. If there's only 2 adults and children, it's guaranteed.

In July 2004 we stayed at AKL. When I made the reservations with CRO, I told them we would have 2 adults in one room and 2 boys, 15 years old in the other. Without even asking she said we would have connecting rooms - guaranteed. We did with no problems, it was also noted on our confirmation as well.

We have booked two rooms at PO-FQ for May. It says connecting rooms guaranteed on the reservation form. I was surprised as I thought that we could only request connecting rooms.

When I called this week to switch my ressie from CSR to POR I said to the CM "I know it's not guaranteed but could you note my request for connecting rooms". The CM replied "you don't have to worry about that - we guarantee the connecting room when it is for children". My 2 kids are actually teens and one of my kids will be 18 on our trip - so, I do hope we will have a connecting room. Can't wait to see what the confirmation states. Our previous confirmation from CSR said "connecting room guaranteed".

Thanks for the replies! I know Disney does their best when it comes to requests, but I wasn't sure if it was truly guaranteed or not. All I have on my itinerary from AAA is "2 connecting rooms" - it doesn't say guaranteed, but after reading here, I'm not going to worry about it now. Thanks!
