Yes, sorry for the confusion. If you booked VGT you can be assigned any level of Verandah stateroom. You would not be downgraded.

I booked a VGT at the same time that I could have booked specific Cat 5 or Cat 4A or B GTY staterooms on the Magic.

That's not unusual. What's unusual is a 6B GTY offered and a 6B select a room.
