We currently have assigned cabins on deck 9 on our first cruise and gty. 9B cabins on deck 2 on the second cruise. Is it worth the gamble to switch to 9B gty. on the first cruise and hope that the cabin fairy :littleangel: might realize we're on a b2b and give us at least one of the same cabins?

I would stay with the cabin you have assigned for the first cruise but also put in a request for that cabin for the second one.

I think I'm missing something here. You have gty 9B cabins for 4 months from now and you already know your cabin assignment???

DCL already knows you are B2B and has this noted on your reservation (they are Magical, after all!) As to the same cabin, I'd put in a call to my TA and see if there is any way I could be assigned to the same cabin now (this means you will no longer be gty).

I've done 2 B2Bs with both legs being a gty (NOT the new restricted OGT, IGT, VGT). On one we were not assigned to the same cabin and my former TA insisted it was impossible. (It might have been at that point, but not the week before!) On that one, we bought an upgrade at the port for one leg...since we had to move anyhow, it was nice. On the other, we were upgraded and assigned to the same cabin for both legs. NICE!

Sorry-I'm not explaining well. We don't know our gty. assignments yet on the second cruise. The real problem is that we have different categories booked on each cruise. If I switch the first cruise to 9B's we'll be in gty. on both cruises but at least the same category...

I would call my TA and ask them to call DCL and find me a cabin that will work for both cruises. I don't think it would necessarily help you to have the same gty category for both (it didn't for us on one), but if there is any way to put you together, now is better than after they make assignments for gtys.

We were in different cabins for our B2B and it was not that big a deal...yes, it would have been nice to stay in the same cabin but this was on the MV of the Dream and the following cruise so there was not way to get the same cabins (I booked the 2nd cruise a few weeks after I booked MV).

We were on Deck 2 in 9B for the MV and Deck 8 9A (8504) for the next cruise.

That's reassuring! How did they handle your luggage?

We packed it up but either housekeeping or guest services moved...I really don't know. We were told to leave it packed up in our cabin and it would be handled.

We've done it both ways...moving is not a big deal, but not moving is nicer.

When we were not moving, we told our stateroom host to not bother cleaning our room on "changeover" morning. We had been informed by GS that we didn't have to get off the ship (this varies from one B2B to another, and isn't the norm), so we were planning to sleep late and just ignore the commotion of disembarkation. He agreed, but then he cleaned it anyhow when we left to get our new KTTW cards.

When we moved, we were told to call GS when we were packed up and they would send someone for our luggage.

Each B2B seems to be different--I know that our instructions were different each time, and another board member reports doing 6 B2Bs with each different. The only thing I can tell you for sure is that you will get instructions in your room the morning before the change over, and that it will be as easy as Customs will allow them to make it.

We did B2B on the wonder in different categories and did not mind the move. Someone moved our bags from inside out room to the next stateroom. A tip here is to take all of your dirty clothes and pack them in a suitcase or two, then take it out to your car when you are in port between cruises. We also took an hour or so to drive to Walgreens for some aloe gel and pop into ronjons before reboarding the ship (no extra parking charge for coming and going, BTW). They let us right back into the waiting area and we were the only ones in there. They did have to check us back in. Someone did that for us as soon as their computers were ready for the cruise. They let us right back on the ship and did not have to wait for the regualr boarding time. We were back on board before the terminal was even open for everyone else to check in.
