Anyone have experience booking a GT rate on back-to-back cruises and whether you were given the same cabin number?

Yes on the magic BI and TA. Im now booked for b2b marvels but dtill waiting on an assigned room while many others on both cruizes have received them

We did not last January. B2B on the dream.
Were the different cabins close to each other? I can save about $1,000 if I switch to GT before final payment, which seems like a lot to save, but I like the cabin location I chose.

I recently did it on the Wonder. They allocated me the room next door 😂

On the final day of cruise 1 I got a message from GS saying they had got agreement from shoreside to leave me in the same room. Which was totally unexpected and really nice.

Note: they allocated me an 11C, which at no point were on sale for that cruise. So everyone in that cat was an IGT.

Is there a way to request they "link" your cruises so they can see you are on a back-to-back?

Even if they are linked, if a passenger on the second cruise specifically booked your cabin, you would have to move. That's why you can save so much on a GT rate, no guarantee of a specific room. I'd do it to save $1000! That's money towards my next vacation!

Been on a few b2b and never expected to get the same room and never have. You’d be better to forget it will ever happen. Take the extra money and cruise. Dcl knows you’re on a b2b. I did a b2b oct/Nov. I booked OGT (oceanview restricted rate) both cruises. The first one I got deck 9 in an upgraded 8A. I was thrilled to get the bigger room, the second cruise I got what I paid for. I was deck 2 mid in a 9B. A smaller room. I packed up and actually wrote the cabin number on it. Left the bags in the cabin and they were in my 2 floor room when I got in. It Wasn’t terrible, but I just don’t like packing and I did a 14 night cruise (8n/6n). It’s easier on the shorter cruises because you dont back as much stuff.

The rooms aren’t assigned until a week before.

I don't mean *GT rates, I was referring to guests who chose their cabin when they book, you can choose your stateroom at your time of booking if you so prefer. It is not assigned a week out if chosen in advance.

When you book a B2B they will look for the same rooms available on both cruises. If they can't find them then yeah they'll put you in different rooms. Same thing when you book two rooms with a GT rate on the same cruise they will try to find rooms together or near each other. I'm really not sure what you mean.

Basically what you just said. A *GT (IGT, OGT, VGT) rate is a run of the house, discounted rate, you get whatever stateroom is left, what no one has selected on that cruise. You are booking either an inside cabin (IGT), outside cabin (OGT), or a verandah cabin (VGT). That is it. You cannot choose a stateroom on a *GT rate, so it is luck of the draw and why those rates are a lot cheaper. If you book the more expensive rate where you specify a certain "view" (inside, outside, or verandah) and category (ex 10A, 9C, 4B) you can choose your stateroom according to what you pay for. I never said getting the same cabin on a B2B on a *GT rate would not happen, but it can be unlikely because again, if someone paid the higher rate and specified a certain room, on the second part of the B2B, the person on the discounted rate is going to have to move because again, that rate does not guarantee a specific room.

You do realize your B2B GT cruises could be assigned on the same day. By the the time they assign the rooms people paying full fare have most likely booked their rooms.

Yes.... but most *GT are not (as you mentioned above) assigned same day. Whatever, not worth my time, I don't post to nit pick. Have a nice weekend.
