Since Grumpy is not a good typer, I, DW, Friend of Eeyore, am playing secretary. We, DH,myself & two dogs left Central Texas @ 7:00 am, Friday 4/10 on DH birthday. Picked up a slow rain 50 miles down the road. Houston traffic was no problem, but started raining really hard. Heavy rain followed us all the way into Milton, Florida. Stayed @ Milton KOA in heavy rain, no pads & holding deep water, which DH had to connect the electric in standing water & we had to carry our 4 legged kids into the camper. I watched to make sure DH did not fall.
Sat (4/11) We left Milton in still heavy rain all the way until we turned onto I-75 @ Lake City Florida. Half way to Gainesville one heck of a wreck on the North lanes w/ traffic block for at least 15 miles. Felt sorry for the campers & others heading home for Spring Break. We stayed Sat night @ Grand Lake RV @ Citra, Fla. Beautiful place!!!
Sun 4/12 We headed to the Fort @ 7:20 am. On I-75 In North bound lane, two semi truck hit - One went across the medina into South bound lane right into the ditch & up into the trees. We said a pray that no one was hurt. Arrived HOME @ 9:20 am. Our site (728) was ready!! DH had trouble backing into the site because of all the trees & bushes & parked cars. DH had some great help. We got golf cart from Kenny (he is wonderful) & 1/2 the cost of Disney. After setting up, took the dogs to the doggie Park & then took boat to MK!! Did a couple of rides, one of which was the Mine Train & it was not like riding Dumbo.
4/13 Will head back to MK this afternoon.

Sounds like an eventful trip going down there. Glad you guys made it in safe and sound.

Tiggerdad taking care of your squirrel. Someone had posted that they liked plain unsalted peanuts. A long talk with the squirrel and his mouth piece the otter resulted in the fact they would much rather have beer nuts.
WE are getting ready to check out the rest of the Fort, Loop 500 is completely empty
We are in site 728

Whew. That sounds like a heck of a trip... But you made it! Glad you got your desired loop and things have settled down from spring break. We always head to MK on our first night. Hopefully you stayed to watch Wishes.

Glo,

I have to say you DO tell a little bit better (and longer) story than Arnold does. If he walks away from the computer and stays logged onto the DIS, please post again. :worship::hippie:

I've been caught in those spring break traffic jams headed north out of Orlando on a Saturday morning or early afternoon. It happened once and I plan to make sure it doesn't happen again. I hate to hear about the wrecks though - that shouldn't have to happen to anybody.

But I have commented to DW while driving that stretch on I75 between I10 and the Turnpike that it is the BEST section to rubberneck while driving to check out all the different kinds of trailers, rigs, RV's, campers, popups, 5ers, etc. Lots of variety go by.

4/13 - Our 4 legged children woke us up early. We decided to stay around the camp site Monday morning. We went looping & took Missy & Susie to the great doggie park. When we tired them out, dropped them back at the camper & rode around a little longer. Saw a number of Mickey lamps, saw one Disc sign (Hail to the Victors). Came in and had lunch. Had plan on going to MK mid afternoon. The wether man said rain will be over around 4:00, it started to rain hard around 5:00, so we waited out the storm. Left for MK @ 8:15 & realized the Electric Parade started @ 9 pm. Since their were not a huge crowd, we were able to stand in front of Star Bucks, & watch the parade. Stayed & watch the fireworks. The weather man said no more rain, but guess what - it started a light shower, but we did not let that keep us from seeing the beautiful Castle light up & the fireworks. We has planned to ride the train, but the train had gone to bed.

4/14 - We headed to Ecopt this morning for a few rides - Spaceship Earth, Soaring & Living with the land. Decided to take back stage tour of "Behind the Seed". We learned a lot of growing different plants etc. Well worth the small fee of $15.00 per person. Had lunch @ Coral Reef Restaurant. Good food, great waitress, & surprised Grumpy with a birthday dessert!! Came back to the camp site, took pups back to the doggie park. Brought them back to the camper & went to sit on the porch @ the Crockett Tavern. All of the high chairs are gone & lots of rockers!! We are heading to the Beach to watch the Electric Water Parade & the Fireworks from MK later the is evening.

Went looping this morning and saw your site.. plenty of shade over there. Our loop(300) is not empty but it is only about half full.
