Grumpy, aka DH Brad, has softened on the idea of a family vacay at THE WORLD!:banana::banana:We have been trying to decide were to take our next family vacation, with DS 25, who is in a wheelchair. We did Disney 4 years ago. It was our first time traveling with DS since his accident (Traumatic Brain Injury, from a Bicycle/ Pick-up truck collision). It was an awesome trip. There is no place better equipped for accessibility. In January we took a family cruise to the Caribbean, which was a lot of fun. Or DD 23, had just graduated from college, and it was the first time we had all been together for a vacation since before the accident.

Of course I'm the Disney fanatic in our house, so Disney was a no-brainer for me, but DH's feeling was,"I've been to Disney twice, had a good time, I really don't need to go again." :sad1: How could I have married such a man?:confused3

After talking about it, we gave DS several vacation options, and bless his little heart, he chose Walt Disney World.:littleangel:After a few days Grumpy, came home from the mines, and announced that he was softening on the idea of going to Disney. That was the opening I was looking for. I jumped on line found out that we could get Free DDP, and the rest is history.:surfweb: We've decided to try CSR for 9 days from Sept. 24- Oct. 2.:dance3: That's why I love that man.:lovestruc

I had to read your PTR as you said "Grumpy" and "Grumpy" was in the title of my PTR and my now running TR.

I'm so glad your "Grumpy" is softening and that you have booked a trip to DW and at our favorite resort too. I look forward to following along with you.

Thanks so much. I went to WDW last moth with friends, and I bought him a new wardrobe of Grumpy shirts.:lmao: The ones we got on our last trip are looking a little threadbare. We went to MNSSHP; I got my picture taken with the 7 dwarfs. I told them I had to stand next to Grumpy, because I'm married to Grumpy.

Thank you for all your work on The CSR resort thead. It really helped in the decision making.

Gotta love those Grumpy shirts! We had our picture taken with the 7 dwarfs too...I put "Grumpy" by "Grumpy" (you can see it in my TR if you like).

You are so welcome. I hope you enjoy your stay there half as much as we do.

Here's Grumpy and the Gang, plus our wonderful server on our cruise that we took earlier this year.

This is the local cast of characters. Kelly, nurse and DSIL, Grumpy, Jared, DS 25 in the chair, your host, Teri, and Allison, DD 23.

If this works, then it is the first picture that I've ever posted. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.:cool1:

It worked--great job. And a wonderful picture. :)

It worked , it worked! Now for the even better news.

But first a little background:

When we made our pilgrimage 4 years ago, my DMIL and DFIL, and two of or very dear friends from Alabama also came along and we spent a wonderful week together.
We haven't had the opportunity to see our friends since the trip. So when Grumpy gave the go-ahead, I couldn't wait to call our friends to see if they are up for another Disney adventure. And the answer is YES!

I just found out that our DFs Sharon and Randy are going to join us again. And this time they are bringing their daughter and her family. :cool1: She has 2 little girls. princess: I'm already having visions of BBB followed by lunch at the Castle. I asked my daughter if she'd like to join in the fun. I got the eye roll with the "are you crazy" look. Unfortunately, my DFIL's health won't permit them to come along this time. So DSIL, Kelly, has agreed to come along and help with Jared.

So now I need your help in planning all the not-to-be missed fun for little girls.

We don't have girls (sometimes I miss this, sometimes I don't ;) ). However, my good friend here on the DIS, that's nice, has a precious 4-year old (they are actually leaving in three weeks on a MAW trip to Disney. They have done the BBB and have eaten at the castle; they have also done 1900 Park Faire for dinner (and breakfast) and absolutely loved it. They are doing, hopefully, the Tea Party at the Grand Floridian next month.

And visions of pixie dust danced in my head...pixiedust: I wish I had some dramatic reason for not continuing in a timely manner, but the truth is, I chickened out for a while, but now I'm back to try again.

5 months, can you believe it, 5 months. OK, so that's 40 lbs, divided by 20 weeks. Oh my, that's 2 lbs a week, until my date with the Mouse. I need to step away from the Easter basket. I know I can fit into my walking shoes, it's my summer clothes that I'm worried about. Progress on that front will have to wait until another day.

Trip planning has progressed very nicely. There will be 11 of us in all. The matching shirts have already been ordered and have arrived. OK, that got another eye roll from my DD, who is quite adamant that she is not wearing a matching shirt. Her father has been echoing that same chant. I don't understand. They are really cute shirts! Red "Classic Mickey" tees, that I got for a great price from the Disney store. They didn't have them in children sizes, but I found cute little red Minnie Mouse tees for the girls. Can't you just imagine the great picture of all of us in front of the Castle. They have no vision. My DH recently confided that he will wear the shirt, but he's not ready to give up protesting against it. I'm considering getting DD a red shirt that says, "I'm too much of a Princess to wear a matching shirt". Anyone want to wager whether or not she'll actually wear it.:rotfl:

CSR will be our home for this visit. This will be our first stay there. I love the whole southwest and Mexico theme and the rooms look rather peaceful. We'll be utilizing the preferred rooms. I think it will make it easier to get DS around the property if we are closer to the main facilities. I think that is by the first bus stop too, so maybe we will have a greater chance of getting a wheelchair spot for him. The girls will love the pool and play area. I can't wait to see them go down the slide. Even though there isn't a zero entry pool, I don't think we'll have any problem lifting DS in and out of the water. I've actually built in rest time into the itinerary. (Although, I'm still trying to adjust to the idea.;) So, maybe we will actually have time to go to the pool and enjoy the property. On our last family visit, we were there for 9 days and never had time to get near the pool.)

My bed is calling. It's time to give it up for the day. It's time to allow the Pixie dust to dance through my head once again

I admit it. After all, I learned from the best. I've lurked on the DIS for years. After Christmas, my compulsion kicked into high gear. I spent hours; daily combing the DIS threads for every gleaming gem, to insert into my itinerary.

Why must Disney make us wait so long for the real park hours to be posted? Don't they understand how many hours are spent making up imaginary itineraries for imaginary park hours? Do they not know how many trees gave their lives to print all the tentative daily itineraries I had to make in order to take into consideration all the different park hour scenarios? I don't want my 180 days to get here and not know how I'm going to balance park time against restaurant time. I have to make sure I can get as many restaurants into our stay while maintaining some kind of touring schedule. After all, I don't want everyone to wonder if we are there for the parks or to eat. BREATH! What? Are you laughing? I know I'm not the only uber compulsive Disney freak out here whose dream is to do everything and eat everywhere. :confused3 Or perhaps your just celebrating that you haven't completely taken up residence in Fantasy Land, like I have. Any way, I spent hours and hours at the computer. :surfweb: Grumpy feared that I had fallen down the rabbit hole. But after several weeks, I emerged with what I was sure to be the correct Disney hours with a perfect itinerary to make the most of every minute.

I was searching for the Disney hours and show schedules yesterday for a MAW trip in November, hopefully. Not out yet.:sad1: I'd love to see your itinerary when you get finished.
