How speedily the days go by. It seems like only last September when I wrote on these very pages that Dopey & I would be jetting off to WDW & here we are again getting ready to go again! No, I didn't manage a trip report last year & am not going to pretend that I'll do so this!

Last Septembers holiday was great. We had decided that it would be our last WDW for a while as we had been for 10 years in a row. We opted for the French Quarter & took advantage of the Free Dining offer.*

We stayed at the Gatwick Hilton, which was very convenient & our flight was on time. (food was awful so I just did without - no great hardship). We touched down on time & just 90 minutes later were in our room (& that's using Magical Express, not driving ourselves). Dopey was very taken with our room (building 6, ground floor, facing a fountain) & declared that he'd never stay at the All Stars again. (just to note we have always been perfectly content @ the All Stars: suited us with no problems). The only problem we had with room was noisy neighbours. Waking early on the 1st morning to a man speaking business French was not ideal. *I made full use of the running track, which was a nice way to start the day (7am for 9 days of the 14).*

We only had one 'down' (that I can remember) & that was Le Cellier. They were over an hour late in seating us...in a not even half full restaurant. Believe me, holding a quiz on all things Canadian was not they way to break the tension! I opted for Cheese Soup to start. 1st mouthful made me tingle. 2nd...hang on, somethings not right. Waiter! Is there fish in this? No sir. Are you sure as I'm allergic to fish & I think this has got fish in it. Waiter disappears. 5 mins later, very large, very angry looking woman appears at table to ask if I'm alright (no introduction but let's assume she was the manager). I decide that Yazz is right & the only was IS up, so retire to the bathroom to make myself vomit before my body decides to do so unceremoniously. Return to table & we decide we can't stay. We are avoided like the plague & can't attract anyones attention. Eventually we leave & speak to the host on the door to explain. *Get back to the hotel & decide, for safetys sake, to speak to the duty manager. They check what's happened & find that Le Cellier has charged us for a full meal! I was not impressed. However the duty manager sorted it all out. In case you're wondering, Cheese Soup has Worcestershire sauce in it. This contains anchovies. Whodda thunk? Certainly not me, & not Disney, who I had advised of the allergy. Lesson learnt.*

Dopey particularly liked the American Idol Experience. So much so that when he was getting his penultimate day blues, I entered just to cheer him up. In my heat was a very nice 14 year old girl, who was a credit to her upbringing, & a guy who was very good & who WAS GOING TO WIN if it was the last thing he ever did. He was determined in such a way that made him very unfriendly. He did win, & deservedly so. I wonder what happiness he got from it. Somehow I picked up the shattered fragments of my life after not winning a heat in a theme park talent contest. I take things one day at a time. *

As you'll have realised we decided that last year was not our last trip, as we fly off again on Wednesday. Once again POFQ & free dining.*

Planning & organisation has been conducted with my usual élan! I've had an exceptionally busy October which culminated in moving house last Friday (4 days ago). So I've packed up a house, partially unpacked it, & have packed for a holiday. Some nice men in white coats have brought me a lovely comfortable jacket to wear & are putting me in a room with soft walls.*

Anyhoo. Off we go. No Le Cellier this year, you'll be shocked to hear. Dopey wants to do something different, so we are going to the Hoop-de-doo Revue. I'm looking forward to this about as much as I'm looking forward to french kissing a skunk. Who knows, it might be fantastic. Please don't let there be audience participation. Or people whooping. Or plaid.*

I'm looking forward to having a great holiday; T-Rex; the boat from the resort to DTD; MVMCP; early morning runs (jogging type, not...you know...the runs); standing on the corner of Hollywood & Vine; Beaches & Cream; feeling the calm sun on my face; wandering in the gardens around the Tree of Life; spending unhurried, unstressed time with Dopey &, oh I don't know, about 100 other things that mean I'm away on holiday.*

Have lots of fun--especially at the Hoop-de-doo--and then do tell us all about it some day soon. Bon voyage.

Nice one Grumpster, have a great time.

I feel you have the wrong idea about Hoop De Doo - it's all about dinner suits and harp music. :thumbsup2
