We love most of the food offerings at Food & Wine, but our favorite was the beef stroganoff at the Russian booth.
My sister just returned and said the Russian kiosk was not there. We looked at her brochure, and didn't see it listed.

There are many great selections to fill the void, so it's not the end of the world.... but almost. :teeth:

I will confirm this since last year I was obsessed with the beef stroganoff. I went back so often the guy finally gave me a bowl of it instead of the little plate. I don't like seeing the stroganoff go AWOL.

This year I am obsessed with the chilaquiles at the Mexico booth. I like cheese.

I feel the same way about the Guiness Beef stew that was at the Ireland podium last year. It is gone, but not forgotten... :guilty:

I, too, was disappointed no Beef Stroganoff. Luckily I have their recipe and it doesn't disappoint and is quite easy to make. If you would like it, let me know.

I am also disappointed Ireland does not have corned beef and colcannon.

Please post the recipe. That would be great!

And hubby thought I was crazy for making such a big fuss over the fact that it was no longer offered. Good to know I am not alone in my sorrows :) ...

And just to rub salt in some wounds... the Durban sugarcane chicken is now absent from South Africa.

Don't despair - I believe that the Rose & Crown usually has it at lunch. They serve it in a ring of mashed potatoes with a cheese wafer thing. Yum. :goodvibes

Oh, and here's the Beef Stroganoff recipe, from my F&W 2003 recipe book.

Yields 4 servings
1 lb beef stew meat (1" cubes) trimmed of fat
3 tbl AP flour
Kosher salt, to taste
Black pepper, to taste
2 1/2 tbl canola oil
1 small white onion, sliced
1 tbl tomato paste
1 1/2 c beef stock (beef bouillon)
3 tbl sour cream (plus additional for garish)
8 oz package egg noodles, cooked

1. Toss beef in flour, salt, and pepper. Set aside.
2. Heat skillet on medium heat.
3. Add 1/2 tbl canola oil. Saute onions until translucent. Add remaining oil and add beef. Brown on all sides. Add tomato paste and cook to caramelize. Add beef stock and deglaze pan. Lower heat to a simmer.
4. Cook 40 minutes, until beef is tender.
5. Turn off heat and add sour cream, season with salt and pepper.
6. Bring 4 quarts water to boil. Slowly add noodles and stir. Cook for 5-7 minutes until done.
7. Drain and portion on plates.
8. Top with stroganoff mixture and garnish with additional sour cream if desired.

I'd be curious to try this recipe and replace #4 by putting the mixture in a crock pot on low for the day. I'll bet that would turn out well.
