I don't know if this bugs anyone else, but it's my biggest pet pieve in VMK.

I like playing mansion, but lately I have to wait until certain people on my friends list can log on to play because everytime I play with just another player, they quit on me right in the middle of the game. has this happened to anyone else?

It happens to me too, but I also sometimes dc right in the middle of the game. It is a little suspicious if it is at the beginning of the first round when they lose, and I agree it is better to play with friends.

:headache: I almost want to ask before I get into a game if they are going to actually play or quit once we get going, but I don't want to seem rude.

A lot of people dc in the middle of mansion games now. Just something that has been happening a lot lately - so don't think everyone is doing it on purpose! :)

Oh i can understand if your system or the game crashes, but most of the time you can tell if someone quits the game just because they aren't winning. that's when it aggrivates me.

I don't really understand leaving because someone's not winning. We get credits whether we win or lose, but none if we leave the game, so it makes a lot more sense to stay. It's not even like we get the orange crates now, so why the fuss about winning every game? :confused3

I do often crash in the middle of a Mansion game. But what makes me  in the Haunted Mansion games is when you join purple to be the fourth person in the game, and then the game creator boots the person on his/her team so that he or she will have the advantage credit-wise. In situations like that, I will leave. That is just incredibly selfish. Now, if you're playing friendly Mansion with others and you rotate people who get the major ghosts, that's fine. But when you're playing with random people, play fair for Yavn's sake!

This topic is brought up many many times. Never assume people are quitting the game. Most players really do crash, I am one of those. I can not play with more than two on two and I can't go more than two rounds or I WILL crash. Please stop assuming people are quitting!!! This is the very reason I will ONLY play with friends now. I don't like being accused of quitting games when IE totally shuts me down. Please think about this the next time someone disappears from the game.

whenever they just stand there for a bit, they usually quit
so then i make myself happy by saying i was too good for them :rotfl:

OK Goofy 05 calm down, like I said, normally you can tell when someone quits just because they aren't winning. I am not picking on or accusing anyone of anything, I was just making an observation! Maybe you should just play with friends only. Don't be so sensitive, no one was acussing you of anything. :rolleyes1

I have had players say "bye" with 5 seconds left in second or third round because they are losing. I don't get it, they lose their credits just because they don't want to lose? Oh well, and yes a lot of people dc in middle of game I know I do. It is very annoying to everyone.

Not all quit the game. For example tonight I was DC left and right and my friends and I just laugh about it! not much you can do but you will find out that even your friends or yourself will DC a lot

Well, Goofy brings up a good point. Sometimes people do in fact crash during the game. Some people (I am including myself in that), say, "I hate when they quit the game." In all honesty, I too have had trouble with many, many mansion games & have crashed. When I say, I hate when they quit the game, I don't necessarily mean it that way (although I can understand it being taken that way).

Today, I was playing with 2 friends & one friend on the other team had a random player who disconnected in the 3rd round. The game was filled up with her color ghost. She ended up winning that game. I told her that I was happy that she did win, but I do hate when people quit the game. In all honesty, that player I'm sure did not quit, I just need to be more careful & aware that MANY players crash.

I seriously doubt that Goofy was saying that you were accusing anyone of anything. My perception in her post was that she just wanted to show you the "other side" of the player dropping out of a mansion game. Your response to her was a little harsh though.

I don't think the question/post is anything for you to get so angry over. :sad2:

Many times when this happens I know for a fact they quit because I see them in the lobby. You can't disconnect and log back in that fast. This is what happens the vast mahority of the time.

I have begun asking people other than my friends if they are going to quit if they are not winning.

I was quite calm, merely stating the other side of the 'observation' of players quitting games.

Thanks, Eagles. I was trying to make people see that players don't always quit. Some people read these kinds of threads and make assumptions, just trying to help them see there are two sides to every story.

I don't see any anger in my post. As I stated, I was merely pointing out the fact that third round crashes are quite common and to please not make the assumption that those players quit.

I can log in rather quickly on my notebook. Are you sure they don't have a fast pc? The speed at which I can log in has nothing to do with my crashing in the game.

I have begun asking people other than my friends if they are going to quit if they are not winning.

I don't see the point in quitting a game. Win or lose the credits are awesome and the time wasted in quitting in the third round of play is senseless.
The only time I had problems with other teams quitting when losing, is when they had no chance of getting the required amount of points to advance in a quest. I believe VMK has since lowered the amount of points needed for most quests. I also think there were some last month who may have quit because they were only going for the orange crates. There really is no other reason to quit a game now, unless they really need those 40 whole credits for winning...
Don't get me wrong. I know there are players who quit mid-game. I just want others to realize that not all players quit.

I don't assume anything.

This one girl I was playing with I knew she had to have crashed bc

She had more ghost then me even tho she lost first

She had like 20 green ghost by her and I had 3 purple by me

And she stood there not moving for like 30 seconds.

I crash a lot because of IE and sometimes I'm losing at that point so it can look like you're a sore loser when in fact you've been DC'ed. And due to the enormous lag I've had in the past few days I've had to leave the game because I barely move.

It also aggrivates me when people leave but at least you get some credits even if you didn't get that many :)

This unfortunately has been a problem since Mansion started. I have been privy to all sides of the argument.

Player Crashing:
I have been in a killer game, tons of credits (one on one with another player) and boom I crash. I feel so bad for the other player, because there is no way to let them know I crashed.

I have explained in detail the circumstances surrounding my crashes to VMK and have not heard anything. The case when I will crash is about the forth or fifth consecutive game of mansion. I use FireFox and it completely shuts down. I have tried with IE and get the same experience. In addition, this just does not occur with me. This has happened to numerous friends of mine. Also, it is extremely aggrivating to play so long to be rewarded nothing because you crash in mansion to do a failure in the application. We have learned from this, since the gage is about 4 or 5 games we relog back in to avoid it.

Player Quitting:
Yes, I have quit on a mansion game. Normally at the start of a game when "it appears" that it will be equal on both sides and then the game starter boots people for his own credit benefit. I am glad to leave, share the wealth.

Players Quitting on me:
I have had players quit on me. Yes, actually I know of a player I refuse to play against because he is a "habitual" quitter if he does not take the lead immediately in a game. I wont leave, I will continue to get as many ghosts as I can until the round ends, which will end the game but I still get my credits. It is a shame, its all about the credits not about who wins or loses.

So there are many sides to this debate and pretty much all sides are frustrating. This is why when I play, I tend to play with people I am close with. Makes the game much more fun too.:thumbsup2

Yet again another reason why I only play "friendly" ghosts with friends or ppl from the Dis who get the concept of that...

I do realize that a lot of people dc. It happens to me as well sometimes. But the people I was mostly speaking of when I started this thread were the ones that dont have that many ghosts when you have like 15 or so and then u all of a sudden notice that they just disappear. It's just obvious to me that they no longer wanted to be in the game because you were winning. I don't know, maybe I am looking at this wrong, but why start a game with someone if you are purposly not going to finish it if you start to lose?
