Every once and a while I get this pop up from MSN telling me that I have to scan my computer with this thingy! I don't want to! Number One, I don't like it telling me what I have to do, and Number Two, what if it's not from msn?!

What do I do?!

Updates are critical. My anti-virus updates every day, automatically. My 3 anti-spyware programs auto update less frequently, but probably every week or so. Same with firewall. You do need to have your programs update as often as they need to. And in 5 days, an unprotected PC could be trash.

Could this be it? I know I had an update reminder yesterday so maybe thats what it was? Dan posted this on the spyware threat thread.

its probly something that will tell you that you have a 1,000 bugs and if you buy there product they will remove them

I keep getting one but I think it is just an ad, I just click it off.

I did get one from microsoft the other day, I did update because I heard it on the news and Dan reminded everyone.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't this have to do with someone getting into an open port and using Windows Messenger service to try and Spam? I had this problem a couple of years ago, and I had to adjust my Norton Internet Security so I could block it. I think you can stop it by disabling Windows Messenger. Can someone else help? :confused3
