Grrr...one ear hasn't popped yet!

This may help as well:

Hold you nose shut with your fingers and let your checks expand with air. While doing release the air forcefully from your mouth.

Regarding Sudafed; No flames please, I don't mean to scare anyone, but there is a risk connected to it that some people might not be aware of.
I used to use Sudafed as well, but it contains pseudoephedrine hydrochloride which may be associated with the occurrence of stroke, even when used as directed. I realise it's only a small risk, but it's not a risk I find worth taking. I prefer to wait it out and use some of the many great tips mentioned on this thread. I don't mean at all to be over-hysterical, I just think it's something to be aware of if you're going to take it.

:lmao:
I know this is supposed to be a serious thread with a real problem...
but it's one of the funniest I've seen.
All I can picture is dozens of people hopping up and down.
wiggling their ear, pinching their nose and trying to blow at the same time....
It's like a bad scene out of Monty Pyton Movie.

Along the same line...I tend to have problems with my ears when I have flown in the past but chewing gum and swallowing alot taking off and landing helps alot. My DD has had alot of pain and plugged in ears in the past from flying as well. Last spring she flew to Europe and we got her the ear plugs which she said worked well. My questions is does anyone have any suggestions for my DS4. He doesn't chew gum yet and I don't think that I can keep him swallowing. Last time he flew he was 10 months old so I gave him his pacifier. Help?

Have him sucker or lollipop during take off and landing.

So - on descent today - one of my ears didn't "pop" so I can only hear well out of one side. Any remedies?

I've tried (to no avail):

pinching my nose and blowing
drinking something
Chewing something
yawning

Help!

My method is a sudden, vicious head shake, side to side. It seems to always work.

Mind you, it leaves you either with a) a neck ache, b) a head ache, or c) both. So... I guess it's a lousy solution, really.

This probably won't help you at this moment but for future flights they make earplugs that equilize pressure. So once the cabin is opened on the other end of the flight you take them out and can hear just fine. I've always had issues with ears staying clogged forever. I think they're call earplanes.

Haven't flown in a few years so haven't had to go buy them.

Have tried them numerous times with only mixed results. :(

With the earplanes do you wear those the entire flight? Seems like you couldn't listen to headphones at the same time.:confused3

Depends on how long your flight is. If I recall correctly - they say to put them in one hour before takeoff and landing. But where they are in - you cannot wear headphones.

Some people swear by them- I haven't had much luck.

I use EarPlanes too. I believe the reason that they don't work for some people is that they are not correctly inserted into the ear canal. You need to read the instructions carefully. They always work for me - maybe not 100%, but they always lessen the pain and clogging I would have had if I were not wearing them.

I had the same thing happen to me when I returned from WDW last July. Tried everything, nothing worked. Then it started giving me pain. Went to dr and had to have antibodtic drops for 2 weeks.

Unfortunately, I always insert them correctly (I'm not easily flexible, so the memory of reaching back to pull out my ear to insert them stays with me). :)
