My sister has asked me to try to use my handy skills (that I learned at the DIS :thumbsup2 ) to find her husband a cheap flight back to Fort Bragg, NC. They are moving here and he is driving their things in a U-haul and needs a one way flight back. He will be leaving Dayton, OH and flying into Raleigh-Durham on April 17. I found a flight on USAirways leaving DAY at 5pm and into RDU at 8:35. This is a good time since he has someone picking him up. Within 1 minute the airfare went from $119 to $180. So, now I am looking again. I am kicking myself because I had a discount code from airtran and I accidentally deleted the email.

Anyway, my question is, since he is military, is there special rates for military personnel? And if anyone has any discount codes available that they aren't using, can I have them? Pretty please?? The miliitary is reimbursing them for moving except they won't pay for the flight, only if he were to drive back. He doesn't want to make the 10 hour drive twice in the same weekend.

Any ideas??

You should also check flights out of Cincinatti--you can probably find much better fares that way, and it's not that far of a drive to pick him up from there.

Cincinnati is always more expensive. A co-worker is picking him up from RDU. He will be driving from Fort Bragg to Ohio.

You could always buy a Round Trip if cheaper and just not use the other half of the ticket - technically I believe this is against the airline's terms of sale but people do it all the time.

Thanks everyone! I called Southwest and got a fare of $132 with taxes (military discount). I finally convinced my sister to drive him to Columbus, since it will be saving her almost $50.
