Grrr .. angry at VMK

Pirate, you are lucky you missed that fiasco. According to VMK, the only people participating in the contest were the 33 winners. They had listed the good stuff as the participation prizes, only to come back the next day, I believe, and say only the winners received participation prizes. They then said for us non-winners, we got a Donald Duck gift box; myself and many others thought that was merely added on as an afterthought, although maybe we were wrong. The entire thing left me so disgusted I stepped away from the game for over a month. I was busy anyway with work, school, and job searching, but I just flat out refused to even log in for a weekly credit run, I was so steamed.

Back on topic: Forever, so sorry you're the victim of another case of misinformation on VMK's part. I don't see what the big deal would be in giving you and everyone the advertised room; it is a virtual room, so it's not like it's something they can "run out of." I hope they fix it for you, but I suppose we both know the chances of that happening aren't all that great. It's still important to speak up and write in when stuff like this happens though; if we're all silent, they can assume no one is bothered by certain things. Fingers crossed for you, Forever!

Forever, I am sorry that this happened to you and I hope it gets resolved, but I have to say that I would be very happy even to recieve the award. There are plenty of people in VMK who would give anything to be in the position you are in, and quite frankly, they are just virtual pixels.
Besides, I'm sure they are doing the Pirate Cannon room to stay to the theme of pirate month. I agree with Disney Dreams: wear your pin with pride in knowing that you provided happiness and cheer to the visitors of your room. There honestly can be no greater reward, at least in my eyes.

Sorry but I so need to vent. I was so happy this week when I won best guest room. I have worked over a year at trying to win so I could finally be able to own my own Haunted Mansion room. When I got my prizes I noticed I got the Pirate Cannon room, np I figured a simple mix up and they would help me straighten it out.. how wrong I was. I was just told by HOST_Bella that they forgot to update the page and put that the Pirate Cannon room was prize for all Best Room winners and not the Mansion room as it is stated.

I am so fustrated at VMK for this.

Sorry if you feel I am whining but I was not in it to win a pin, the pitiful amount of credits they give, or the party. The party I wanted to win for my kids so that they could invite their friends and have a fun night in a room they would probably never be invited too. The credits are a joke, I spend at least 20-50 grand per room to build them, 2 grand doesnt even begin to cover that. The one prize I had really really wanted was that room and thanks VMK for taking that away. Sorry but they should have honored what they wrote up as the list of prizes (fat chance at them honoring anything they write, I know). Maybe the other prize winners are thrilled to get that room but I already have a few of those rooms. I am not thrilled at all...

And I notice that they STILL haven't changed it. Good grief.
I'm sorry you didn't get the room you wanted. If I had any codes of that at all, I would give you one, but alas.

Ok, I wasn't here, so can someone explain what happened with the Gingerbread House competition?

Okay what happened was:
They said the participation prize for everyone that participated(that's what
a participation prize is) was:
Everest Boots
4 Orange Gumdrop Chairs
Top Ten Pin
Blue Winter Beanie
Blue Winter Jacket

I think those were the participation prizes. Now everyone knows participation
means you participated right? So everyone got their hopes up way high in the
sky and then they say "Oops, typo!" and change it to "Runner Up and Winners
Participation Prizes Only"

Everyone was SO MAD at VMK for that.

Not only did they have a typo about the prizes, but they had a typo
about the color of the Beanie and Jacket too! .-. They later changed it
to pink for the girls and red for the boys.

Then they quickly thought of something to give to us as an afterthought, and gave
us this donald gift box that is meant to be given away! What is the point of a prize that
is meant to be gifted to people??

On Topic: Wow Forever I would be so mad if that happened to me! I really hope you get this solved
soon and best of luck to you!!

Sorry, it sounds like whining to me. I can understand being upset at first, but not getting the room you wanted should not take away the honor of winning. I think all the people who open awesome rooms, but never have a host visit to see it should start a post, "Grr..angry at VMK". However, if they did, everyone would tell them that it's not always about winning. You have WON and you are still "angry at VMK".

I can remember when I won my first Best Guest Room. I was so excited because I was going to get a Pirate Prison Room. This was of course in January of 2006. Of course, back then we did not have what was posted as the prize we were to receive, in fact our rooms were not even posted on the VMK to see only your name was posted. We had to share what our room was on the boards.

Getting back to the prize tho, they just changed the prize from Pirate Prison Room to the Tent Room (which at that time I had a load of quest cards for from my trip in June '05.) So while not so overjoyed with the Tent Room, I was so honored to be chosen for Best Guest Room. So, while I understand your disappointment, it happens in VMK and in real, so we need to move on.

What really needs to happen is for the Best Guest Room winner to win the Dreams Suite (from here on out). This would generate peace and goodwill, and would also give the winners something truly special.

I was also a BGR winner who was the only one that week who won the tent room, everyone else won the Haunted Mansion Conservatory. At that time, there was more than one winner of Best Guest Rooms. Did I complain? Maybe, for a moment, as I already had a few tent room codes, but I did win the blue ribbon pin. There is only one way to get that pin, earn it. I was proud that I earned that pin and very excited that I had won! Didn't matter what the prizes were.
You stated you weren't "in it" to win anything else but that HM room. I guess that's the part I can't wrap my head around. I have never been "in it" to win BGR at all, but to build an amazing room that I and my guests enjoyed, not for any prizes. Winning an award was a bonus.

Forever, I totally understand your disappointment and that is what it is a disappointment. I think what you were trying to do is just vent to us, and I for one understand that and I am taking your post as that - just a vent of disappointment.

Your room is wonderful, I spent I don't know how many months trying to create the exact same thing. However, I never even came close to what you have. Your creativeness truly shows.

I agree that you should wear your BGR pin with pride, you did a great job!

I understand your disappointment as I would have loved to see what you could do with the HMC.

Forever, I know how unfair things can be. In my point of view, yes, VMK has disapointed yet another player, and it's very wrong. But many players, Including people I know, Look at you as an inspiration to other players who have a dream that they will win, but yet it never happens. Many a player will leave because of problems, but the real problem is pride. But, I really think you deserve the HM room, but if that isn't the prize they should change it. VMK will keep on having problems, but a player that causes problems just contributes to it all
Stay Strong, there may not a big chance of getting the HMC, but they may just give it to you, or if they dont I think they should have told you, or made up for it with something as rare, if there is such a room or item.

The one she is speaking of is the like that, but had no snow or christmas lights. It was the original HM that you were only able to get when the parks had the VMK Haunted Mansion Quest.

I had something similar happen when I won a room, but it wasn't a tent or the pirate prison. I bought a Briar room the day they went on sale, and two days later I got another Briar room as my prize for a Best Game. It didn't bother me though.

I didn't build my first room to win, but now I do want to win the pins because I want to complete the set.

Thanks everyone for letting me vent my disappointment in VMK's decision to not award prizes that were promised, yet again. Still a little irked they have not even made an attempt at changing the prize awards but thats water under the bridge. I think getting upset last night was not only the disappointment in not getting the one award I was so looking forward to for myself, but the fact that I had asked every host since Tuesday to let the person know who had awarded the rooms that I got the wrong room. If anyone had let me know right then and there that there was no mistake and that was the room I was supposed to get then fine. Maybe they didn't know at the time and I will be content to think that now.

And yes you guys are complete right, that I should be happy with winning. I was and still am very happy. Now that I have cooled off I am very grateful that I did get the Club33 party, my kids are so excited about going and thats what truelly matters, not a stupid room. VMK is supposed to be about the happiness we give to each other. I forgot that for a moment and was selfish.

Thanks guys for being there for me when I get a tad out of hand. You are all such wonderful friends Thanks for letting me vent and whine. Also a special thank you to a good friend who shall remain nameless. He is always there to put my thoughts back on track and talk to me when I'm being an idiot. You dear are truelly one of a kind.

Sorry you all had to put up with me last night. I will let you know if they do change the room prize at all but I highly doubt it and thats fine, I have a wonderfull already made NASCAR room that everyone can enjoy

I'm so sorry to hear Forever! I think that is very unfair of VMK to do that. You should get the haunted mansion conservatory room you deserve!
