Grr..I am so upset!

have your kids make a bunch of things this year . so sorry about the personal ornaments .i understand, they are the only ones i care about too .

I would have a craft day tomorrow & have your children make some ornaments.

Aw, that's heartbreaking, losing so many irreplaceable things. I know I had a good cry the year my tree fell over and smashed a bunch of ornaments I couldn't replace, too!

I am so sorry. I know how you feel. The ornaments our kids made are special.

I hope it was not her intention to hurt them, and I hope you realize that.

I inherited my Mom's ornaments after she passed away. A few of the boxes were ruined in storage. At first it hurt but I had to come to the realization that they were memories, yes, but just things. No one can take away the memories.

Your kids had the best reaction, don't let them know you're hurt, they're react to your reaction.

Christmas is a time for peace. You have your family with you and all of that stuff can be remade and replaced.

People.... unfortunately... cannot.

:cloud9:

I'm sorry , what a shame to lose all your sentimental ornaments. If intentional, your Mom must be a very unhappy person :guilty:. It's good you're trying your best to make the best of it, at least you're celebrating your first C'mas as Mr & Mrs and you'll all be together as family safe and sound making special memories for the holdiays and that's most important. Maybe if time allows you could hit the dollar store, they usaully have some cute inexpensive ornaments. :goodvibes

If you have the time in the next couple of days, go ahead and make some new traditions with your kids! String popcorn (dd and I did this last night, had a ball and it really looks good on the tree!), make some dough out of flour, water and salt (I am sure you can get the recipe online somewhere)--you cut it out just like cookies, bake them and then paint them. (we did this with our preschool kids and the ornaments come out really cute)

Also, some of the craft places have unpainted clay ornaments. We have bought those and painted them and we have also bought the plain colored balls and painted scenes on those.

You may just end up with your favorite tree of all time!

We had all our ornaments get destroyed when our tree fell over so I know how devastating it can be. But at least in our situation it wasn't due to the carelessness of someone else.

Another fun activity. get clear glass balls at the craft store remove the add two or three of colors of tempra paint. Slowly swirl until the glass is coated. Dry upside down overnight in the tray they came in. They look awesome.

Also fun and easy easy peasy and really inexpensive.

Buy a box of the cheap colored glass bulbs at the dollar store. Draw designs on the glass with elmer's glue. (use a toothpick to avoid getting too much in one spot). Roll in various colors of glitter. Dry overnight then brush lightly with a makeup brush to remove excess glitter.
