We are so close to buying now, most likely by the end of the week.

My question was brought up by DH last nite while discussing our purchase. Do you get tired of going to WDW? Is there a point where you just have seen it all and don't want to go back? Do the rides seem old and boring? At what age to the kids grow out of WDW? Or DS is 3 now and loves WDW. He improves in language skills each time we go and it is a huge jump! He started appropriate conversation with strangers this time and even played with another boy on the bus.

If we do grow old and tired how hard is it to go somewhere else?

Thanks, April

I think with all the constant changes that take place at WDW, it is hard to get completely bored with it all. I am unsure of when kids outgrow WDW, I still haven't. However, if you do get tired, there are so many other choices out there. I have only booked outside of WDW once, but I had absolutely no problem booking what I wanted. I have yet to try booking things like the adventure collection but those sound like alot of fun. The last thing I want to say is that if you do, for whatever reason get bored of the whole thing, you can either rent your points out for a couple years, or just sell your points. :)

Thanks Lucky and Welcome, I see that was your first post. I am glad your here.

i am 64 years old and have never outgrown disney. when we become board with one particular section of the park or one ride, disney has always come up with something new. if you miss a ride on one trip, you always find that on the next trip you will head straight for that one, because you really did miss it. (in your heart that is)

when i am too old to ride there will be so many new things for an old woman to do at wdw. as my grandchildren grow older, they will have new interest and want different activites but disney thought of that too. they have dtd now, and the imagination is never ending. ::yes:: :rainbow: :rainbow:

some day i will have great grandchildren who will be delighted with wdw and once again my grandchildren will be glad we still have dvc. :welcome:

I've been going to WDW since MK was the World (1971) and I never get tired of it. They're always adding new things and I find that every time I go I get a new perspective on something I've done a 100 times. I like to try at least one new place to eat each visit, go different times of the year and go with different people and that helps keep it fresh.

My niece is 20 and shows no signs of growing out of WDW. We've done Universal and Sea World and we enjoyed them, but last year she only had one park day over Thanksgiving and she picked Magic Kingdom. I told her we'd go to any park in Orlando and that's the one she chose.

We bought DVC when we were already old (52 and 66). We have since added on 5 times!!! because the magic grows. While our initial visits were "ride centered," we now look forward to the overall sense of being in the Happiest Place on Earth more than any particular attraction. We almost always bring along friends or relatives and the chance to see others sharing our joy has a tremendous pull for us. When life throws a few curveballs (as it has done for us recently), the anticipation of an upcoming DVC trip is a real, tangible kind of hope. As we age (now 59 and 73) we continue to get REALLY excited as our trip approaches, counting the "sleeps" and waiting for our first chance to watch the world from our evening perches on our BWV balcony.
12 more sleeps!

I would think the way you tour WDW would change as much as anything. I can tell you it is much different with my 4 year old nephews than it is with just my DH. We do not have kids so our evolution goes from trip to trip depending wether we take the nephews or parents. Your evolution with your son is going to be more of a natural progression than ours. Enjoy!

Blasphemy! Who gets tired of going to WDW???! :rotfl:

Just kidding...I know I've thought the same thing. I've been going since I was a wee child and I haven't tired of it yet. We did have a brief period where we travelled more often to that other park, but my heart is always at WDW.

We do have people ask us all the time why we don't get tired of it. We tell them that as many times as we have been there, we still do or see something new every single time. I think if you slow down and soak in the World, you will find that there is so much more there. I think DVC helps you do just that.

And if you do get tired of Orlando, there is always VB and HH. My DH is looking forward to trying those locations for non-park trips that still have a touch of the magic. :wizard:

As we have only just joined I cannot base my feelings on true experience. However, one of the big pleasures I found was when you start to "sit out" and just watch people, not just kids, discover the magic. Yes, I'll probably get sick of the rides, I'm not terribly good on the visual rides anyway - love Soarin' but can only do it once a day :sad2: I just don't think that I'll ever get sick of seeing happy people, so when I lose the joy of watching other people enjoy Disney then its probably time to sell. I just think my SSR years might run out before that happens ;)

We are in our mid 50's. We've been DVC members since the Spring of 2002. Over the past 10 years we've visited WDW at least 15 times and so far we still love the whole experience. Our children are grown no so we don't attack the parks anymore. In fact, with each trip we find ourselves moving at an ever more slow and deliberate pace. We visited WDW at the end of September and we would go out for a max of 3 hours, come back to the room for a bit, enjoy the pool for an hour or so, relax and maybe (if we felt like it) go back to the park for an hour or two.

We just got back and we are already looking forward to our 4 week trip in February. The beauty of DVC is that if we do get tired of it there are other options, including selling if we want something entirely different. However, at this point we can't imagine ever not wanting to go to WDW.

Yes, I got very tired of WDW after years of going. But the weather is still great in the winter so we still keep our membership. If DVC and WDW fall any further down then they already have, then I may consider getting out entirely, but for now getting out of the CT weather in Jan is still great.

We are now 53 and change the way we do the parks each time we go. Last week was the first time that we took our married kids & grandkids. We we in the parks from morning till night and we had a great time, but my DH said to me on our last day, that he was really looking forward to spending a week next May, just the two of us...At a much slower pace. We love WDW all ways...I guess you could get sick of it...I'll never know. Like Jekjones, we count how many wake-ups we have till we go on our next trip.

Our now grown kids loved it. They hadn't been to WDW in 17 years. Our DGD (9) and DGS (15 months) loved every minute of every LONG day...No complaining about being tired, or hot, or hungry. And the baby never cried the entire trip! Everyone was bummed all day Sunday, the day after we returned home. My DD has begun to make plans for their next trip, next year! We've got a whole new generation hooked on the Happiest Place on Earth!!

We, my DW and I are in our 40s been going 15 years or so, my son was 11 and DD was 9 now they are in there 20s and we all love it more now than we did the first time, mostly because of the DVC. :cool1:

I'm 45 years old and your post made me feel like 18!

The two of you look fantastic and there isn't a better looking couple at WDW.

Here's to many more years of pixie dust!!!

Disney Ron

I am 48 and DH is approaching 43. Yes, at this age with have a 3 yr old and I know I will die before this runs out. I want to leave it to him upon our death but until then he is just 3, has autism and loves WDW. I just said to DH how nice it would be to be able to slow down and not have to be park commandos. We could come and go as we please and finally relax some on our vacations.

Thanks for all the input and please keep telling me more!

Blessings, April

Disney Ron,
You made my day, week and month! We both feel like youngsters when Mickey does his magic. We are lucky, lucky, lucky to be DVCers and have great online pals like you to share our happiness. Isn't this a fun thread!

We've been going to Disney World for five plus years. At this point I am getting somewhat tired of the rides and parks. While I love the rides how many times can you go on Space Mountain, really?
I find that I'm now more drawn to the resorts. Love reading by the pool or strolling on the Boardwalk at night... DH was just saying that his favorite part is trying the bars...
At this point I absolutely cherish having a bi-yearly vacation in Florida, but I'm not too sure how I'll feel in another 5 years. I wonder if I'll make it to the end of my contract; at some point I might jump ship, sell most of my points, and move over to Marriott which offers more variety. My guess is that other might feel the same; 10 years of It’s a Small World might be the max for most people.
Don't get me wrong. I gotten more pleasure from DVC than I ever envisioned and I certainly got my money's worth. But 30 years vacationing at a theme park, albeit the best on earth, might be too much.

The DH and I married in our early 40's. We are empty nesters now, our "baby" is 19 and started her first year of college....we've talked about "getting older" and what we'd do with our additional years, we originally bought at SSR, and found that our heart belongs to VWL, so we sold SSR and purchased VWL---honestly, I can see us as older folks, just sitting in the lobby at the lodge and watching folks make their entrance in to a most magical place....there is so much there, all around you. I feel my heart strings pull the minute we see the first entrance to WDW, so matter what, when I'm so old that Space Mtn is a memory and the Rockin' Roller Coaster is out, and I'm dizzy and droopy without EVEN getting on the Tower of Terror, I still can see us, my one true love and I sitting under the Florida sky watching fireworks and saying, "remember when?" So don't worry about getting to old to enjoy or finding things boring, I don't think WDW will ever be a "boring" place. I truly believe that that's where the magic lives, there and inside our hearts.

We first bought DVC in 1993. At the time, DD was 8 and DS was 5. We were lucky enough to get the free passes that came with membership at the time (thru 1999, anyhow ;) ). Our thoughts at the time were to go for a week through 1999, enjoying the free passes. By then,we thought we'd be tired of it and the kids (14 and 11) would have "outgrown" it.

HA!!

Since then, we've added on 4 times. We LOVE WDW and Hilton Head. Unfortunately, the kids can't join us all the time any more (awwww ;) ), but we have not grown tired of it at all! We thought by this time, we'd be using our points mostly for trades, but haven't done that once yet!

We have our annual trip to Food & Wine coming up next week, then Thanksgiving at Hilton Head. Truthfully, I think our kids would be really disappointed if we didn't spend Thanksgiving there! (We've been there every year but 2 since the resort opened!!)

Whenever we're in a budget crunch (with 2 kids in college, that's easy to do!), DH always says we should sell some points; but when it comes down to it, we can't bear to part with them.

Anyhow, this was a long way of saying that we "planned" on getting tired of WDW and DVC, but have yet to experience that! :teeth:

I'm actually waiting for my husband to slow down and quit going commando through the parks! :rotfl: He is 47 and every time we go to WDW, he acts like it is his first and only time there! I'm looking forward to enjoying the actual resorts more. I figure I have some time for that! :rotfl: :goodvibes
Our first trip there was six years ago and when I planned the trip, I thought it was going to be our only trip. Since that time, it has been my mission to to go back again and again. Then we stayed at DVC and that was it! I was forever spoiled! It became my mission to be a part of DVC!
For us, it is like revisiting an old friend. We so look forward to going. That feeling that we get everytime we drive under the "Walt Disney World" sign. (Some of you know the one I am speaking of!) It is our "happy place"
There is so much to do there. They are always adding new things. I notice something new every trip. I know that I will grow too old for some of the rides, before anyone else will. I already have, but not because of my age, but because I get sick on certain ones now! The tea cups are out for me anymore! Like others have said, the way we do WDW will most likely change. Sometimes, I like to sit and watch people. popcorn:: What a great place for that! We have always met such interesting and nice people there too. Disney puts such thought into everything they create. The details are incredible! It truly is a "Magical Place!"
I don't really know if we will grow tired of WDW, but if we do, we can take a break and rent our pts out or sell if we want to. I don't see us doing that any time in the near future. We love Florida and find that there are many things to do there. We can't wait to get back to WDW next summer and then we are renting a car and driving to "The Keys."
You are always going to run into those people that say "Don't you get tired of WDW?" "How can you go to WDW every year?" These are probably the same people that go to Hawaii or Mexico every year. Or better yet, quad riding four times a year! I just reply, "That's where you like to go and this is where we like to go! :dance3: Besides, I think Disney keeps you young! :yay:
Just when I start to think that maybe I'm kind of weird, I come to these boards to be with all the other "weirdos!" :woohoo: :lmao:
