Grovsner Resort?

We stayed there several years ago. They were remodeling a lot of the rooms at the time but the room we got was not yet done. It was ok.. it was cheap ( $50 a night thru a deal we got), had a fridge, and was in walking distance to DTD. I would stay again for $50 but not full price. Our toilet backed up several times a day and it even happened a few times when we were not there! I have to assume it was caused by other plumbing trouble. They did not seem to care though and finally just gave us a plunger to take care of it ourselves. Like I want to plunge a toilet on vacation. I did enjoy the " stolen" Sheraton shower curtain though..lol. We had a car that trip so bus service was not an issue with us.
I would not mind seeing this hitel since they remodeled it but like I said... I still dont think I would pay full price

I believe that this is the hotel which contains the Baskervilles restaurant. I did not stay at the hotel but took my daughter over for the character breakfast (We stayed at the DoubleTree LBV across the street). I did not like the Grosvenor from my dining experience. There were two sections: (1) which looks like a motel of sorts and then the high rise building. The consitions did not really look all that appealing. I do not know about the rooms but based on the exterior facilities, I would not recommend staying at this hotel.

At $55 a night, we paid too much. Most our group checked out days early and left. We won't stay there again !

We stayed there on our arrival day and it was horrible. The rooms were miniature and smelled. The food in the restaurant was horrible and we only had a breakfast buffet, how hard is that to mess up? I would find someplace else.

I am a travel agent and went there for a night a couple weeks ago to do a travel review for my website. I was in a tower room. It was nice in size. But the beds were old and lumpy. and definately needs some updating.I did not get to see the rooms on the "wings". But from what I have read in the reviews on my site, they are old and even musty smelling.

As for the buffet at Baskervils. It leaves alot to be desired. I am also a chef by trade and a food service manager. They do not even use real eggs. They are gross!! And to top it off, when we had our 1 meal there, breakfast, I got food poisening. This is because they do not keep there buffets temps hot enough.

So yes, I too would recommend you stay else where. They ONLY good thing I can say is the view of the EPCOT fireworks from our room were terrific. But that's it.

Blessings,
Winnie

We stayed at the Grosvenor a few years ago...we had a tower room that had been remodeled on the 15th floor...it was very nice ...we ate a buffet breakfast every morning at Baskervilles and it was very good.....the garden rooms did look very shabby.....the bus service was excellent and we could walk to downtown disney ...bonus....we stayed there in March 2004 for 1 night in the garden rooms and it was old and smelly.....would not stay there unless I had a tower room and a good discount.....

I've got a conference to attend there June 21 - 26. Rates are $116 to $136 a night. Sounds like I should stay somewhere else and rent a car.

Can anyone else weigh in on the Grovsner?

Open to other suggestions for sure!

We only had the character breakfast there, and I decided then I never wanted to stay there.

Via expedia for your dates:

Royal Plaza, just a couple of buildings down, is available for ~127/night. It's been recently renovated. We enjoyed a stay there a few years ago. No rental car needed.

AmeriSuites Orlando Lake Buena Vista South - close, would need a car. ~90/night included continental breakfast.

Thanks guys! I had a feeling since it was the only DTD hotel available it made me think........................ :scratchin why ????????

We stayed at Doubletree SUITES in DTD in January and it was a place I will return. Can get some great rates (some with breakfast) depending on time frame. We got it for $119, but heard some got $85. The Plaza looks nice from renovation photos, I would like to try there as well.
