grovsner opinions

We enjoyed our stay at the Grosvenor. The room was bigger than the WDW moderates, included a refrigerator and has a wonderful location. It's VERY close to DD. Each evening after a day in the parks, my DH and I took a leisurely stroll across the street to DD to Ghiradelli's for an ice cream. We are looking at this property again for a few nights of our trip coming up in May.

I was thinking it might be nice to stay here sometime. We always have a car either ours or a rental and we really love Downtown Disney. We go almost every night.

I stayed at the Grosvenor back in September/October of last year and thoroughly enjoyed my time there, so much so that when I was due to move on to another cheaper hotel for the last week of my stay, I decided to pay up the extra money and stay on at the Grosvenor.

I was lucky in that I got both a reduced rate for a standard room (thru Dreams Unlimited Travel via this site, $50 per night) and then was upgraded on arrival to a tower room for free, as it was an off peak period, and that definitely added to the effect, but I really liked the hotel anyway - it was relaxed, comfortable clean, the room a good size and the hotel is in a great location.

I had read reports here that it was a bit shabby and run down, but reckoned that an uncompetitive hotel just wouldn't last in that location so went with my instincts. They proved right. I think some folk interpreted it's relaxed air as being a careless attitude from the staff which was definitely not the case - personally I'd take that over the ultra-clinical efficiency of some mdern chain hotels anyway. It's not the newest, most hi-tech hotel, but the atmosphere was nice and chilled, the staff helpful, and overall I'd say you could do a lwhole ot worse than book a stay there.

I didnt use any of the restaurants myself but they seemed to be relatively well used. The pool area was being refurbished partly while we were there so should be in even better shape now - it was fine then anyways.

I'll be going back some time in the future. :)

I stayed at the Grosvenor 3 nights last week. You will not be disappointed. It was very clean and the rooms were much bigger than any of the WDW rooms that I have stayed in. They offered park transportation, but I chose to drive every day. While there, I used the pools, hot tub, and the fitness room. The fitness room was no Gold's Gym, but did have cardio and weightlifting machines as well as dumbbells. My room was on the 17th floor which provided great views. It was a great value for $69.

My friends just got back from Disney. I am the Disney know it all so they always ask me for recommendations on where to stay. They wanted to spend under 100 per night. I had never stayed at the Grosvenor but figured how bad could it be? So bad they checked out after one night. Their room was filthy, with hair all over the sink and toilet, the bathroom floor was so dirty they could not go in barefoot without it leaving marks on their feet. When they said they wanted to check out because their room was so filthy, the clerk never said a word. I guess maybe they just got a bad room, but they said after the beautiful lobby the place went down hill in a hurry. Maybe only the tower rooms are nice.

I stayed there once. NEVER AGAIN.

I think that the Tower rooms are much nicer then the "standard rooms" which is what I paid for. YUCK.

And no I did not consider the staff casual..... useless would be a better word. When I explained that my bathroom was dirty and the toliet ran all the time they told me that I was in an "older section" and that was the way it was. Plus they spent so much time talking to each other it took WAY too long to check in.
