My family is looking for a short (2 night), cheap trip to Disney this December. On the Downtown Disney Hotels web-site the tower rooms at the Grovesnor are cheaper than the wing rooms. Is there something bad going on that I should know about? Is this a hotel to avoid? My sister stayed there a while back and loved it! Has it gone downhill? Please advise! :wave2:

This place has mixed reviews but you cant beat the location. We won it on Priceline a couple years ago and were able to get a Tower room instead of a Wing room. We had seen the Wing room and while it was ok the Tower room was much nicer..depending on the price you are getting it may still be worth it

Grab the tower rooms quick before they go away! We found absolutely nothing wrong with this hotel and came looking for it after all the mixed reviews. Didn't see that many kids at all though. It could have been that we were there during the off season.

Loved the location, loved the hotel....

We stayed there in 2003. I payed more to have a tower room facing DTD. I would grab it. We enjoyed our stay there. The view was amazing.

We stayed there last year in a garden wing room. It was fine, nothing spectacular, but well worth the $40 we spent for it on priceline. This year we were able to get All Stars on site for $59 a night and while I think it's worth the $20 more per night to stay on site, I would definately stay at Grosvenor again if I couldnt find a low rate for onsite.

I just got a bid on priceline this weekend for this hotel for 4/2/05. I got it for $55...good luck!

Berly165,
I To Got A Bid Acceptance From Priceline Today For $50, But I Am A Little Nervous About The Mxed Reviews. Do You Have Personal Experiance Have You Stayed Here Before?
Amy

We have not stayed here before and I was a little leary of the reviews - but we only needed a hotel 1 night before we go to the BWV. We will be driving down and have a full schedule while we are at WDW. I figure we just needed a place to rest our heads for one night. It was also about half the price of staying at All stars

I did call 3 days after I got the ressie and put a request in for a tower room etc... and I plan on calling on our way down to confirm it.

Stayed there about 3 years ago in the Tower. Very nice. I've heard bad things about the outer wings, but we really enjoyed this hotel and the entire property was appeared to be in good shape. I'm surprised about the tower rooms being less than the outer wing rooms. That's a good deal. It's usually the other way around. I especially loved being able to walk to Downtown Disney. Very convenient. :)

we are also just staying one night, and plan to do downtown disney that night so location is great. we don't fly in until 3:30 so it will be fine for a quick swim some time down time and a nights rest before heading to cbr. I am going to call today to request non smoking and a tower room.
Thanks for the thread I hope more people respond with input.

I stayed here Dec. 2002 and we got a great deal from DU for $39, it was great. The bathroom looked a little dated but it was very big and the room was very comfortable, they also have a refrigerator in the room at no extra cost. The walk to DTD is 5 minutes if you walk SLOW, I was with my 70yo Mom so I had not choice. The staff was nice, the rooms were clean and the bus transportation to the parks was even good. Have a great trip. HTH :teeth:
