I have just returned from my first trip and have got the bug bad! I am looking to book a trip for 20 of us, 11 adults 7 kids 2 infants. Ideally we would like self catering accomodation (a kitchen) and take advantage of the free dining plan. Had a quote for saratoga springs at £31,000 all in for sept 2014. Is there a way I can play with the room occupancy to reduce the price?

Tree House Villas is probably your answer :)

As far as I'm aware, the treehouse villas are very rarely (if ever) available to book through CRO since they are so popular with DVC members.

OP, who did you get the quote from? If you desperately want to stay onsite, your best bet would be to try and rent DVC points (probably from more than one owner due to the number of points that would be required) and get either two Grand Villas or a number of (at least 3) two bedroom villas. You can then book flights separately.

The following is for hotel, park tickets and the free dining plan, (no flights) from Walt Disney Travel UK.
First if the ages of the 2 infants will be under 2 when arriving then the cheapest option might be two, 2-bed's at OKW which will allow 9-adults plus one infant. At the moment SSR only allows 8 plus one infant.

So if the 2-bed accomadation suits all the adults (sure the children won't mind where they sleep) then the cost works out as following.

First 2-bed Disney's Old Key West Resort 6 Adults, 3 Children, 1 Infant.
2 Bedroom Villa from 1st September 2014 - 15th September 2014
Disney Dining Plan; 6 x Disney Dining Plan (Ages 10 and Up); 3 x Disney Dining Plan (Ages 3-9) Book now and enjoy FREE dining worth £3,988.74
Disney's 14 Day Ultimate Ticket
6 x Disney's 14 Day Ultimate Ticket (Ages 10 and Up)
3 x Disney's 14 Day Ultimate Ticket (Ages 3-9)
Your Disney Tickets are valid for use from 1st September 2014
Your package includes a 14 Day ticket for the price of a 7 Day!
Total price: £6,642.00

The 2nd, 2 Bedroom Villa for 5 Adults, 4 Children and 1 Infant would cost £6,622.00.

Making a grand total of £13,264.

So will two 2-bed's work out sleep-wise?

Added later.
Check out these links for an OKW 2-bed layout.

Also read about the dedicated and non-dedicated 2-beds in those post.

With 11 adults (I am assuming 5 couples plus an odd one) I would want at least 6 bedrooms which means 3 x 2 bedroom villas if onsite and that's not going to be cheap.

If you have free dining do you need a kitchen? I do use the full kitchen but we don't have free dining very often as we are DVC members, a studio has a fridge, microwave & toaster and getting one per family would probably be cheaper and give you space away from each other.

Hi thank you all. The original quote was from disney direct but ive been searching today and managed to get down to 21000 with flights. I will however check out the 2 2 bed idea as that will reduce the cost by another 2500 :))

The two 2-beds won't work for every group of 20 and some might be okay for a short stay so it just depends on each group. And bear in mind the 2-bed-lock off is a studio and 1-bed with interconnecting doors so each has an entrance and a little more privacy.

But as there's now only a difference of £2,500 over 14-days for 18 adults/children then that's less than £10 per person per day and everyone stays friends.

Personally with 20 people for two weeks I think you might just murder each other in just two OKW units! I agree three might be better. JMHO.

Completely agree - we have had 4 adults, 3 kids in a 2-bed for a fortnight and that's just about bearable for me.

OP, without knowing the logistics of your party, it's hard to advise and it may be that you're comfortable being in that close proximity but I really wouldn't want to do it.

:rotfl: so true.

We went with 6 adults and 4 children and it was just about bearable with just DH and I on the other side of the resort:) But we knew it was going to be hard work before we even booked it and yep it was, never again. Luckily they went home after 2 weeks and we stayed another week and had a fab time:rotfl: Hopefully all 20 of you get on much better then all 10 of us did, the kids were fantastic it was the adults that acted up...
