I have a question that seems like it could be simply answered by someone more knowledgeable than me in this category.

I am planning and coordinating a Disney trip for my family as well as several extended family members to celebrate our DS's 1st Disney trip. In all, there will be about 12-14 of us. To celebrate, we would like to do a character dining and have narrowed it to Chef Mickey's (as we feel it would be the best experience for our DS).

I understand to make reservations with large groups, I will have to go through Group Dining. Does anybody know if a deposit is required for a group this large or will we be required to prepay in full for the entire group when booking? I heard that Cinderella's Royal Table required this and made me a little cautious. I want to just make the reservation and not pay for everyone's meals (sorry, I'm not THAT rich). Any information on how the whole process works, would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.:)

CRT is a prepaid meal. Everyone has to pay in full at booking unless on the dining plan. Chef Mickeys is not like this and neither are lost restaurants. Chef Mickeys will require a credit card to book in case of a no show. If you don't cancel at least the day before the ADR then you will be charged $10 pp. If you make it for 14 and only 6 show up you will not be charged a no show few for the other 8.
I hope this helps

Thank you. This was helpful information.
It is comforting to know that the credit card is to hold the reservation and just used as collateral in case of a no-show. You also provided the answer to another question I had regarding if a few members of my party did not show up to the dining. Thanks again.

You are very welcome! Happy planning :)

You can make reservations online for up to 14 people using the regular online booking. More than that you have to call, but for up to 14 you do not need group dining.

CRT does not require a deposit - they require total payment in full for the entire party.
