Who is this open to? Only school and scout groups? Can any Magical Gathering stay there? (Like, say, a family of 20?)

How secluded is it from the main area? If a group of girl scouts were to sing campfire songs (or say, that group of 20 were to tell stories and laugh loudly) late into the night, would others be able to hear them?

I'm guessing they would because people are complaining about boat whistles... but I'm determined to find a place at WDW (preferably the Fort) where my adorable, fun loving extended family can "live life and carry on" without disturbing sensitive ears.

It is open to any group of 20 or more. The price is $10 per person per night. There is no electricity except at the bath house and tent camping only.

The only advantage of the group camping area is they do have fire pits and you are allowed to have a fire.

I have stayed in 2000 many times which is pretty much right next door to the group area and have never noticed any roudy noises from there.

Price wise and to have electricity, you might be better off renting like 3 or 4 sites in the 2000 loop and setting up one site as the "gathering" site and then the rest of the sites as tent sites. There are many scout groups and family groups that do this. Every December, there seems to be a large family group that gets several sites on 2000. One site they set up with 2 full size fridges, an oven, a bunch of dining tents and tables and chairs. They even had a moon bounce set up. Then the family was spread out with their tents on three or four other sites.

I'm checking in to give you a second opinion.

A group of 20 is really not a big deal at the Fort. I have seen, and been part of, plenty of larger groups camping together.

When you crunch the numbers, the group camping area is not a very good deal. I agree with clkelley- if you are tenting it, reserve three or four sites on the 2000 loop, and designate a central site as the party site. I have seen this done many times, and the Fort management will even bring you some extra picnic tables if you would like. I have also noticed that despite the best of intentions, most groups don't stay up late partying at the Fort. People are tired from whatever they did that day, and I have rarely seen groups with the stamina to party late on consecutive nights.

As long as you are respectful with what you are doing on the community site, e.g. no loud music or screaming late at night, nobody is going to complain, and you can socialize and have as much fun as you want.

Thanks for the tips! I started thinking about it when I saw the group that even had an extra "community site" on your TR from last year, TCD. I just might have to look into it for our trip in 2021!

Ok, maybe not THAT far in advance... but I had a feeling it will take some time herding up everyone!! :) Oh! But what a trip THAT will be! :woohoo:
