The winter in the Northeast has been so brutal I have resorted to taking weather predictions from a rodent. :rotfl: Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow.

Keep the faith!

Punxsutawney Phil predicts an early spring

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. – The world's most famous groundhog predicted an early spring Wednesday, but wasn't willing to go out on a limb to forecast whether the nearby Pittsburgh Steelers will win Sunday's Super Bowl.

Punxsutawney Phil emerged just after dawn on Groundhog Day to make his 125th annual weather forecast in front of a smaller-than-usual crowd who braved muddy, icy conditions to hear his handlers reveal that he had not seen his shadow.

Never put too much faith or trust into the little fella but I sure hope he is right! I hope spring is just around the corner.

Never bought into the whole groundhog thing. How can an animal, states away, predict our weather over a month out? Heck our weather men can't even predict it a day away. :lmao:

I just hope he is right this time. I really, really want an early spring.

NOt to rain on everyone's parade, but I thought I heard the real PPhil just died like 3 or 4 days ago, so they are trying to pass this hog off as an imposter. :3dglasses

He didn't see his shadow because no one has a shadow in freezing rain/sleet/ice.

Duh!

I heard this morning that Phil has a 39% accuracy rate. I think he needs to be held accountable. If he can't do any better than that he should be "Put Out to Pasture Phil";)

I don't care, I up to my eyeballs in ice and snow. I need some thing to cling to even if it's an imposter.

Our local zoo has a hedgehog named Spike who does the predictions. Spike saw his shadow, guess we're screwed.

Hey! I don't care if he didn't see his shadow because they tied a sleep mask over his eyes last night! He didn't see his shadow, and THAT'S what matters! :rotfl2:

Which makes him different from the average meteoroligist, how, exactly? :teeth:

Oh no poor phil! The fate of spring weighed too heavy on the poor
little guy! :sad2: Hopefully the new "imposter" phil will know what he is
talking about! hehe

What the heck.. I made a decision to spend 2011 in a positive frame of mind - avoid as much negativity as I could - and concentrate on an optimistic outlook (whenever and wherever possible) as opposed to a pessimistic one.. So........................................

I'm going to go out on a limb here - assume that the Groundhog is correct - and start counting down the days until I can return to the lake.. One year I was there by March 17th or so - maybe this year will be the same! :thumbsup2 That would be awesome!!! :goodvibes
