Ground Transportation

Arranging my first trip to US/IOA, travelling with girlfriend and her son. Planning on three nights at PBH. I bought annual passes for everybody. We're flying from Atlanta.

I'm wondering about ground transportation between the airport and hotel and back again. Does Universal Studios or PBH provide a decent shuttle service (regular, frequent pick-up times) or should I just plan on getting a taxi from the airport?

I don't know if Universal provides any kind of service. My guess is Mears bus service (which also provides service to Disney resorts) probably provides service from the airport to Universal. We received some good advice though on a Disney trip a few years ago and that was a reco to use Tiffany Town Car service instead. There were 5 of us, and it was actually cheaper than Mears. Bonus was that it was personal service....they waited in the baggage claim area for us and then took care of our bags.....and then they took us straight to the hotel. (My understanding is Mears could make several stops.....that'd probably be a bigger delay at Disney then at Universal since there are so many more resorts at Disney.) If you request it, Tiffany Town Car will also make a 30 min. stop for you enabling you to get groceries.

The hotels do NOT provide transportation to and from the airport. Try www.mearstransportation.com and www.yourride.net.

While we are on the subject of ground transportation-(speaking of which Tiffany is way better than Mears and doesn't cost any more $) is there a bus from Universal hotels to Sea World-specifically RPR? I think I've seen that there is on the boards, but I can't find it...

Yes--there is a free shuttle to Sea World from all three on-site hotels. The bus also stops at WetNWild.

Speaking of transportation from the on-site hotels to SeaWorld...is there a shuttle to Discovery Cove also?? How often do they go to and from (we're staying at the Portofino)? Any suggestions and information would be greatly appreciated. Also, since we are planning on going to Discovery Cove and SeaWorld while we are staying at the Portofino, do you think it is better to just rent a car at the airport?
