Grocery thru DVC, opinions?

::MinnieMo pirate:
We have our first reservations scheduled for July25 3- at OKW.
what is the grcoery service? How does it work? what is the cost? And how do I inquire about it? If any one has any information on this please let us know.
thanks

If our room is not ready when we arrive but we call later and we are now assigned a room can we call the desk say if we are in the parks and have them bring the food to the room while we're out?
If yes, how could I get the person a tip? Leave at desk? How would I know who came ?

Thanks!

I used the grocery service at BCV last May. They came up at about 5:30pm with the groceries and put everything away.

It was all very easy, however the prices are on the high side and the choices are pretty limitted.

I tried to tip them for the delivery, but they would not accept it. I'm not sure why.

I tried it once over at the BWV's and it didn't work. I faxed my request in and I know it was received because I called to confirm. Now this was 4 years ago.

When we eventually got our room, I was surprised to see that nothing was there. So I called down to the store to be told they "had no order for us" and were very apologetic. They took the order over the phone, and within about 30 minutes I had what I needed. The CM who delivered it was from the store and she wouldn't accept a tip. They included some fruit "free" to compensate me for the error.

I've not used them again. I find the prices too high. I'll just run in there for say more milk or small stuff. I usually hit the off site stores prior to arriving and then just store the perishables until we get out room

We used them for VWL this past November. We checked in around 5 pm and everything was already there. I ordered very little because I sent a care package down with cereal, tea, coffee, etc. and we had a grocery stop scheduled with our limo. I ordered eggs (didn't want them to break coming in from the limo) and those Mickey Pretzels (HAD to have those.... :teeth: ) I think I also ordered the packaged ham and cheese and a loaf of bread (for egg sandwiches). Yes they are a little more expensive, but I think you're paying for convenience. I'll use them again in December at BWV.

Thanks for the post We Go Shop!

I had seen a couple people mention your service on another board. It sounds great!

One question on delivery. Can we schedule a delivery for a time after our planned arrival. Say plane arrives 2pm, room will be ready no later than 4pm, and schedule delivery at 5pm?? If the travel plans get totally messed up that day will you still deliver the food to the hotel??

Thanks:wave:

just before we were there at the beginning of the month, i checked out their offerings and prices. seemed limited and high. so i rented a fairly cheap vehicle for the week, saved the cab fares, etc and we stopped at a very large grocery store on the big main drag just outside downtown disney. for 25 we loaded up on bottled water, breakfast stuff, coffee and snacks. we were very pleased doing it this way.

by the way, we did use the car a couple of times to get to and from parks. from beach club it was faster than waiting for the bus

We just use the Screen Door two weeks ago for our stay at the BWV. We faxed the order in as requested and called to confirmed that it was received and since we were not arriving until after 11:30pm, we requested that the order be delivered to our room, which it was.

We order breakfast items only and for a $5 service fee, we thought it was very good for our short stay and late check in.

So then I'm correct in that I can request it to be sent to our room while we're out? Nobody has to be there, correct?
