Grocery stores + Mulan in park?

Hello -
We are taking our daughters (3 and 5) to Disneyland for the first time at the end of this month. I'm so excited too, as I haven't been there since I was 8! Maybe someone here can answer a couple of questions for me? 1. We are taking a bus from the airport to the Paradise Pier Hotel. We wanted to get to a grocery store so we could buy bottled water, yogurt, cheese, maybe a loaf of bread and some peanut butter, etc... Is there one within walking distance of the PP? If not, is it easy to grab a cab? 2. I just read that Mulan isn't one of the characters in the park. Is this true? Mulan is my daughters' favorite, and all they've talked about is finding Mulan. If they aren't going to see her anywhere, I need to start preparing them now. Thank you in advance for any answers you can provide!

It is very easy to take a cab from the PP hotel. There may very well be a convenience store within walking distance, maybe someone else can answer you for sure.

You can also go to the Albertsons website and have groceries delivered to your hotel for a small fee. That can be very handy and cost less than the cab fare. The Compass Book Store in Downtown Disney sells milk and other necessities. Another thing and this may sound weird but I do it each trip, is to pack some supplies. I have a rolling cooler, I have packed water bottles, juice boxes, and other food items no problem whatsoever over 20 times for our trips. Then I have a place to put all the souveneirs we buy when we go home! Its just easier for me to do this and I check it no problem. I know many others who do the same thing.

As for Mulan, I have seen her many times in the California Adventure park, near the Golden Dreams theater (just look for that on your park map). You can also ask at City Hall in Disneyland and Guest Services at DCA when you arrive each day if they can tell you if and when Mulan will be making any appearances and where. She may well be making appearances at the Princess Fantasy Faire in the Fantasyland area of Disneyland. Again, if you ask at Town Hall they can give you some concrete information.

Other possibilities are character meals. We have seen her many times at Goofy's Kitchen and once at the Ariel's Grotto princess lunch. But those are gambles, they will not guarantee any characters at any meal. But even if Mulan is not there, character meals are fun ways to meet characters without the hassle of waiting in long lines. They are pricey but you have to eat anyway so why not see some characters while you do so is my motto!

Good luck, I would definitely prepare your girls not to see her but maybe you will luck out and that will be very nice indeed!

We saw Mulan twice in our last trip. She is our daughter's favorite! This was in Sept. 2006...we saw her as we were leaving Disneyland in the middle of the day. She was just strolling around the area where the fire station is located. And then we saw her at Ariel's Grotto during our character meal.

I hope you find her! [I was prepared to tell my daughter that perhaps Mulan was in China and so wouldn't be at the parks. Actually when my daughter asked Mulan if Mushu was with her, she said he was in China. ]

We saw Mulan in 2005 at California Adventure. She was by the Golden Dreams theater.

During our Oct. 05 trip we saw her in DCA near the warf area. She was with Mushu. In March 06 we saw her in Fantasyland with Wendy (from Peter Pan). They watched, from the crowd, as my son pulled the sword from the stone.

We saw her in CA and at dinner at Goofy's Kitchen.
