We're staying at AKLV Jan 16-21 and renting a car from the airport. I'm planning to stop somewhere to pick up a few things on the way to the resort. I'd like to get breakfast items, water, bread, PB & J, fruit, snacks and such. Not planning to cook, just quick and easy stuff to save a few dollars. Can someone give be directions or advise as to where to shop and how to get there.

Thanks!

Here's a map of various shopping options in the WDW area

when you rent your car, tell them you need to get to sand lake road. (this takes you towards universal-this really isn't out of the way). On your way to sand lake road you will pass the simon mall and a walmart. this is the walmart we stop at on our way to disney. after that you continue to sand lake road to pick up i-4 to get to wdw.

someone has gave you a map but have you checked greengrocer.com as they have anything you would want and bring it to your resort or where ever you tell them to. we have used them for the last five years and I order from home online and it is waiting for us when we arrive.:cool1:

Correction - gardengrocer.com

OP, I usually try to stay clear of WalMart near Disney unless you NEED to shop there. It's the most crowded, chaotic and frustrating place to do your grocery shopping. I've said it in other threads, whole families go together, get one cart and wander around confused trying to think of what they want. By the time I check out I wanted to scream!

We like the Winn-Dixie which is a left turn out of DTD/Buena Vista Drive, or we've always like Publix. Check online for discount cards -you can order them in advance so you get the best prices, plus check websites for prices and specials before you get there.

Thanks everyone for the great information! It looks like there is a Super Target very close to AK Villas. Maybe I'll go there, DD works at Target so she gets 10% off all purchases & I have a Target CC for an additional 5%. We really don't need much, just water & breakfast foods/snacks.

I was considering Garden Grocer, but I don't think I'd order enough to justify the shipping cost, thank you for the suggestion.

Seeing that you will be staying at AKV. It's very easy to get to Walmart from the AKV. Take W.Osceola Pkw from the Animal Kingdom Lodge until you reach intersection of RT 535. Walmart will be on the left on RT 535. It's only about 3 miles or so, and it's open 24 hours. BTW, they have the better pricing then the local grocery markets.
We shop their when we are at WDW, and will again this coming year, (Stayiny at SSR).

FYI, I enjoy shopping their around 5:00 am, not many people.

Good Luck
