What's the closest grocery store to BWV? We won't be having a rental and am checking in to BWV after a 3-day stay at ASsports; so won't be coming directly from airport to BWV. Thanks for your info ;)

The Screen Door on the Boardwalk has a pretty decent selection of groceries. A little pricey but it's nice to just walk down there and then back to your room. Since there are villas there, they have a lot of dairy, and some frozen stuff also. Breads, snacks, soda and beer and wine. We could have been very happy using this store for everything we needed.
Or you can go to one of the shopping services and place an order and it will be delivered to your resort. A lot of DIS'ers use either Netgrocer.com or Wegoshop.com. Very convenient.

goofy4tink, thanks for the feedback. I like the idea of online ordering. are their store prices pretty reasonable? any delivery fees? and how soon ahead can I order? THANKS

There's a gas station across the street from BW with a convenience store. They have some basic stuff at reasonable prices.

The first time we stayed at the Swan, very close to BWV, my dh and dad took a cab to the nearest real store and it was $60 rt and it took them forever! You could pay quite a bit of markup to save $60 and your time if you aren't planning on eating each meal in the room.

We have walked to Goodings, at Crossroads, from the DTD bus stop. Its along walk, but we have done it twice. Last time at AKL, after traveling 27 hours on Amtrak, a hamburger and 2 beers in the food court made my mind up to take the walk again. The 2 beers were the best, but at 5.00 each, we bussed to DTD and headed to Goodings Grocery store. The prices there are higher than what we have at home but way cheaper than on site. We carried bags back to the bus stop, wife had one bag and a 12 pack of pop and I had a 30 pack of beer and a bag. We laughed the whole way, best done in the evening when its cooler but it was great back at the resort for the rest of our stay to pull out beers, wine, chips and bologna after eating resturant food for a week. New idea, one of my suitcases is a big duffle with wheels on one end, empty it in room and take it with us to grocery and wheel the stuff back to bus. Might try wegoshop next time but really like to see the stuff and the walk ain't that bad, heck, we walk all over disney anyway!!

Well, if you have a car, there is a Publix on SR 192 that's pretty convenient. There is also a Winn-Dixie...go out near DTD like you are going to Goodings, but instead of going across the street, take a left. About 5-10 minutes down the road on the right is Winn-Dixie.

Publix and Winn Dixie will have more "normal" prices than the Hess Quick Stop near the BW or Goodings or the Screen Door right on the BW.

If you are coming in by limo, ask for a grocery stop.

I'd search out the Publix. We were just at the Winn Dixie twice last week and it was awful! Looked like a tornado had been through. No bananas at all, berries covered in mold....

fyi a six pack of beer at the screen door is $10! :earseek: :drinking1 (actually it's $2 a beer and you get a discount for buying the six pack) yes, i paid it. i was too lazy to go out to the grocery store.

The prices are decent. Not like getting stuff on-sale at your hometown grocery but much better than the on-site shops!! Both the on-line services have fees, but I can't remember how much. Not a lot. For us, it was just better use of time to have stuff delivered that we had ordered from home. Netgrocer had our stuff waiting for us upon check-in. And wegoshop will deliver at a time you ask for beforehand. I like that I can buy some milk and fresh fruit from them and it can go right into my resort fridge. I just can't see taking a cab or renting a care to go grocery shopping on vacation. If I'm using a towncar service that makes a grocery stop, fine. But with the new Magical Express, we won't have that option. So we will continue to order on-line.

As far as how far in advance you can order....I think you can put in an order at any time. I believe they like to have it at least several days before you need it tho. I try to place my order about a month ahead.

Thats not horrible for a resort..they sell wine, milk, soda, etc too I assume.
we will be at the YC, which I know is "close", but since I have never been to WDW, how close is close? easiest/quickest way to get there? thanks!

You could take an extra bag on non-perishables so that when you get there you'd only need a few things from the resort store near by. I'd rather do that than spend a lot of time on vacation shopping and making grocery lists.
