We are renting a car for a portion of our stay coming up and wondered if anyone had suggestions on where to stop for the best beer selection. We are staying at WLV and would like to stock some good beer for our stay.

Any experiences or opinions - we're looking for micro-brew/import beers.

Not sure where you would find a really good beer selection. We stopped at Walmart for a grocery run. We were able to p/u beer there but I honestly can't remember the selection. At least this will serve as a bump & maybe someone else can better answer your question.

Goodings at Crossroads! I know Goodings gets slammed a lot on the boards because it's expensive (for a supermarket), but their beer selection is surprisingly good. They even had a small variety of Belgian imports, which you normally don't see. You should know that, until very recently, Florida had a beer container size law which restricted beers to 12, 16 and 32 oz. containers. This kept out a lot of microbrews and imports that come in odd sizes. Even since the repeal of the law last October, most big stores haven't gone through the effort to change their inventory. Goodings has updated their selection, which surprised me. I never thought I'd get to sample a Trappist Ale while at WDW, but I did!:D

Cheers!

P.S. - if anyone else has some other places, please post! I'll be at the world in 13 days and wouldn't mind another beer adventure!:bounce:

I agree with chancellor.
We stopped at Goodings twice in the last 6 months, I was suprised by the selection they now carry. They carried LaTrappe Quadrupple (if you're not familiar with this - GET IT), Duvel, Corsendonk, Westmalle (trappist ale) and several others, Yummy..............

Y'all are our heroes! We'll try to make some notes on what we see and post when we get back!

You had me at "beligian":)

Goodings always has a great selection of everything! Plus, it is right at the Crossroads, so it is very easy to get to!

Antoher option - Bass Ale in the Mercantile shop at the Wilderness Lodge was $2.00 per bottle for those without a car or the inclination to drive somewhere.

We shopped at Target, I think exit 11 off Greenway, between airport and disney property. I thought the selection was good, super target, so it had both food and regular target supplies. My husband bought a beer at pool bar while waiting for me to pickup my dinner, then noticed price in gift shop was much cheaper for bottle of beer. Just an FYI.

There is an ABC store north of Goodings that has a nice selection of beer and wine. They had Fess Parker Chardonnay which we can't get in our area. Better prices than Goodings. There is a Winn Dixie just north of the ABC store, too. Just go about a mile north of Goodings on Apopka-Vineland Road. Both stores are on your right.
