Can someone give me an idea of how overpriced groceries are at that convenience store on the Boardwalk? Also, what kind of items do they have? I'm mostly interested in breakfast and lunch items that could be prepared in a studio.

Basically double what you'd pay in your local grocery store for normal items- bread, milk, eggs, bacon, uer, cereal, etc. Beer is about triple.

This is a quote from my 2002 trip report...

On our way back to the Boardwalk, we saw some of the Illuminations fireworks and then stopped in the Screen Door store to get some yogurt since we had forgotten it at Albertson’s. We bought 4 yogurts for $5. Yikes.

Prices are steep, but it's convenient. If you have a rental car, there is a Publix just outside of WDW, on Rt. 172 or 192 (I forget the right number) and a Winn Dixie just outside the gates as you go off property near the DD area. Go out that gate and take a left and about 10 minutes down the road on the right you'll see it.

They have all kinds of donuts and coffee cakes for breakfast. We bought some instant oatmeal and cold cereal. They have whole and skim milk. Also, wheat and white bread.

For lunch, they have several types of lunch meat, cheeses, mac and cheese mix, pasta, sauce, margerine, peanut butter, several types of jelly, lots of chips, cookies. There are your usual coke produts, water, juice, and beer. The only sugar free drink was diet coke, which I found disapointing.

There is a selection of frozen foods like pizza and hot pockets.

We ended up getting all our groceries there instead of going off property. Yes, it was higher, but so much easier. It is a decent selection and I think at the grocery store we would have just bought more that we would not have eaten.

The price of soda is high. I always stop and get soda and water from one of those gas stations near the DD area.

I always order groceries from NETGROCER.com, and they are waiting for me when I arrive... a great alternative to shopping, or paying high prices. ALso, in the Boardwalk Shop, the ScreenDoor, they sell Entenmans Donuts etc... They are priced the same as everywhere else, since they are prestamped with a price.

Atlantic Emporium at the Beach Club is close to BWV and carries more food items than the Screen Door but prices are just as "convenient."
