Grocery orders at Albertson's?

As DVC members, we always buy groceries before checking in, usually using a grocery stop as part of airtport to OKW transportation.

After making transportation reservations with our favorite chauffeur (Scoobey) at Atlantis limo for our next trip in June, he informed us that we could fax or call in our grocery order to Albertson's and pick it up on out way to the resort.

Has anyone utilized this service. Are they accurate in filling your order. How specific do we need to be. Any info would be appreciated

I did this last year when using Scoobey. It was great - I faxed my order the day before, and when we got to the store, I went in to the service desk. They had it all ready to go - all I had to do was pay while Scoobey put it in the car. Couldn't have been easier! Do you still have the fax number? I have misplaced it and need it for this summer, but I am not using Scoobey this time; I am renting a car. Thanks

Exactly where is Albertsons???? Do you know if they are as reasonably priced as say Publix or Wal-mart? And is there a fee for the service...thanks

hi: i'd like to know too, please. it would be great if you had directions from the airport to there if it's not too much trouble. tia

I'm not sure where Albertson's is. As I mentioned, we always use Atlantis Limo for our transportation and if I'm not driving, I don't pay attention. The prices are comparable to Wal-Mart etc. I don't think there's a fee for the service. Sorry I don't have more info. Maybe someone else can enlighten us further.

Candace, here are the numbers: FAX, ATT Ron Jenkins @ Albertson’s Market 407/857-0132 or phone 407/857-5666.

How weird??! I just posted this same question on the transportation forum! You might want to check there for any additional responses.

My Mom shops at Albertsons in Ft. Walton Beach and I have been in there with her when visiting. Albertsons is very nice, and I would not hesitate at all about making purchases from them.

We just returned from an 8 day stay at OKW. We also used Scoobey's Atlantis Limo services. Before we left home, I e-mailed Scoobey to confirm that I should fax my grocery order to Ron Jenkins@Albertson's. He told me instead to e-mail my grocery list to him- that Albertson's was going through managemant changes. Scoobey took care of everything. We got almost all we asked for, except for a few items which I assume are only availiable on the west coast (we are from CA). I only wished they would have told us, instead of having to find out when I unpacked the groceries. (They left off our bread and danish!) You might want to ask if they left anything off your list before leaving Albertson's so you can pick replacements.

Hi Im I knew dvc member too!But i have been reading here for a long time.Who is scooby the limo driver and how do i find him?

I posted about Albertson's a few months ago and all anyone could talk about was "Publix this" and "Super Wal-Mart that". I'm glad I can finally provide some useful info.

Albertson's is very convenient to stop at while traveling from the Orlando Airport to WDW -- it's right on the way! Take the South exit from the Airport (the one you'd normally take to WDW anyway) and exit the highway at Orange Blossom Trail. Albertson's is right next to Home Depot, which is clearly visible from the highway. There is a toll booth on the exit ramp (50 cents, exact change only -- no attendant that I saw). IIRC, you go straight across into the parking lot. Straight shot out of the parking lot to get back on the highway (and no toll getting on).

This is a "newer" grocery store. It seemed pretty big, plus we found it to be very clean, not crowded, and the employees were friendly and helpful. I highly recommend it.

There are other stores in the same plaza, including a liquor store (we like our before-dinner cocktails).

The guy bagging our groceries at Albertson's said that the prices there are higher than Wal-Mart or Publix, but they seemed lower than we pay at home on most things and besides, I'm on vacation -- I'm not driving all the way to Kissimee and fighting the crowds at Wal-Mart to save a couple of bucks!

Albertsons is a very good store. I have one here in Albuquerque where I shop most of the time. When we go to WDW we get off the Greenway at Orange Blossum Trail and go to Costco first and then to Albertsons to get smaller amount items. Try getting Old Dutch Dressing, it's great for salads and to marinate steaks. You can only get it in Florida and we stock up on it when we go. Another good excuse to go to WDW.

Thanks guys! this does sound a bit easier for us because i never paid attention with the limo stop regarding directions.

Hi I am a newbie and I am wondering...If you purchase your groceries before you arrive, what happens if you get there and your room is not ready yet, what do you do with all that food, milk, eggs, cheese, butter? Help!!!

They will store your groceries at the resort. We have done this at OKW almost each visit. Keep frozen foods together, cold food together etc. Ask them to store until your room is ready.

To answer a couple of questions:

chicago641, Scoobey is the owner operator, chaffeur etc. for Atlantis Limo. You can find him here: www.atlantislimo.com We have used his services several times and were always very satisfied. He was always very professional, courteous and very flexible with last minute travel time changes. Highly recommended.

TinkHappy, I know that Old Key West can store items that need refrigeration until your room is ready. I believe that all Disney resorts have this service.

Although there has been much useful info to my post, I'm still wondering if anyone can answer my original questions: Is Albertson's accurate in filling your order? How specific do we need to be? Although Candace and dizzydvcfan1 did respond to these questions to some degree, I was wondering if anyone has any more specifics. Again, thanks for all the info.

We have Albertson's and Publix in town and we find that Albertson's is more expensive though not likely enough to make a difference for vacation. They tend to have better meats and seafood though.
