I am hoping some of you can share your experiences with me and help me figure out the ins and outs of grocery delivery to a hotel. This will actually be for an upcoming trip to Vegas (sorry I know this is the disney board, but you all are so helpful and I dont know where else to aks ) I know many of you have used such services for disney and am hoping someone may also have experience in vegas.

I am specifically looking at using Safeway/Vohns.

If I schedule a delivery time do I actually need to be the one to accept the food/beverage or can it go to the front desk?

If I have it delivered so it is there when we check in, what do I need to put on the address? My name and check in date?

Anything else, helpful hints, etc would be great. You are all so great. Thank you!!!

PS-- I asked this question on the budget board last night but only got one reponse which was very specific to Florida/WDW, so I am hoping this forum may be more aware of Vons

I SWEAR by grocery ordering!! After having tried it once, I will NEVER go back to buying my own!!

We ordered from Vons, gave the hotel address as the delivery address and my name, plus charged to a CC. Chose a 7-9pm delivery window.

Upon arriving @ hotel, kids were hungry @ 6, so we went for dinner. Returned to the hotel (rushing cause we were late) around 7:15 to find the bell staff had delivered the groceries to our ROOM, and were in the process of putting all the fridge items (milk, yogurt, beer, etc...) into the fridge! Now that's what I call service!!

So I would assume they accept delivery to the hotel desk (you may want to alert the front desk, though). I'd check with the hotel to see if you can have it delivered BEFORE you check in - maybe they will let you. We chose a delivery time just after we checked in - some hotels don't assign actual rooms till you get there and check in, so they wouldn't know where to send your groceries to if they arrived before you checked in (that's about as clear as mud - man do I need some sleep....:surfweb: )

Any other questions, ask. I'm gonna go take a nap so I can string a thought together properly....:headache:

If you visit www.couponcabin.com and look up safeway (and I'm assuming Vons) you can get codes for free delivery on orders over $50!

I haven't tried it yet - but visiting in July and won't have a car so it looks like the way to go!

Somebody recently posted that there's a discount code for free Von's delivery (I believe it's for first-timers). It's just "deliveries".

so for those of you who have used vons (or other) for delivery to a hotel, do you meet the delivery driver in the lobby, does the front desk or bell hop take possession of your delivery for you, or do you wait until you have your room number and have it delivered by Vons directly to your room?

We have Vons and Albertsons grocery stores here in Vegas and both do delivery for a fee.(we don't have Safeways) I'm not sure if they deliver to the hotels but you could call your hotel and ask if they know. The concierge will probably know all about that. I know there is a Walgreens drugstore on the strip.

Did you have a USA credit card, with a USA billing address then? A Canadian credit card won't work because billing address has to be in the USA, BUT, I have been told one can buy a pre-paid credit card if you live in Canada, and that it will work. I understand you live in Calgary, so I'm wondering how you managed the purchase part of the online checkout. Thanks!! Also, which hotel did you stay at, that the put your food away? That was really nice of them!

Front desk takes delivery for you. Some hotels will deliver it to your room, others will call and let you know it's there. When we did it at GCH, it had just been delivered to the bell desk and we took it up with our luggage when we checked in.

i placed my order online and it came out to like $51 with free delivery. i made my delivery time for the day we check in from 7-9pm. i'm hoping the front desk will put my cold items in my fridge!! :thumbsup2 this is the way to go. we are used to driving down to wdw w/all of our groceries but this is our 1st vacation to disneyland and we didn't want to drive anywhere!! we are walking to DL and hopping on the grayline buses to go everywhere else!!:cool1:
can't wait...just 2 more days!!!!
