Just got a fabulous upgrade to SSR... I was one of the lucky ones and I am so very happy... I always wanted to stay at a DVC, just to see if I really do want to buy in ... now I will be able to

Sorry off original topic: Has anyone ever ordered groceries and had them delivered? If so, who did you use and would you reccomend them?

Thanks!!

I used wegoshop, but it was a couple of years ago. Several folks on the DVC board report using them as well as gardengrocer.

Your 3 choices are WeGoShop, Garden Grocer, and Gooding's.

With WeGoShop (a delivery service), you MUST schedule the delivery and MUST be present for it.

With Gooding's (a local supermarket that also delivers), whether you are around at the time of delivery makes no difference, because they deliver to Bell Services and you'll never see the Gooding's delivery person. BS calls you, and if you're not in, they leave you a message and store you groceries for you, even keping the cold stuff cold.

With Garden Grocer (a delivery service), it's a combination of the above 2. Their normal way is to deliver to you at a scheduled time, but you can ask to have them deliver to Bell Services instead.

I've used Gooding's twice and was completely satisfied. I had hoped to use Garden Grocer but they were sold out for my arrival date. I spoke with the owner, Brian, and he struck me as a very conscientious and "good" person. He said he was more interested in providing quality service rather than stretching his staff too thin with too many deliveries and risk them making mistakes or being late or other bad things. You gotta love an entrepreneur who puts quality service over short-term profits.

In all my time on this board and others, I've never once read a substantial negative review of any of the above 3 places. Most people mention that Gooding's is pretty expensive, but that's been a reason not to use them rather than a complaint after having used them (because you know the prices before you place your order).

I used Garden Grocer last summer and just finalized my order for this summer's vacation. They were and continue to be wonderful to deal with. Their website is great and I do believe that they will try to find any item you wish, even if it's not posted on the site.

Have a great trip!

Great! My question is how much do you tip?

Got the SSR upgrade too!

We've used Wegoshop.com 4 times and have always been satisfied. We schedule the delivery right to our room. They scheduele a 30 minute window and have always been right on time.
We order beer and wine tto, so we need to be there for the delivery. I think (?) that is Florida law, so I think it would be true of GardenGrocer too. I was told that Goodings would not deliver these at all.
I ordered about a month in advance, as they do "sell out".
It is a great service and a great way to start your vacation.
We have been on the DDP so we mainly ordered breakfast foods, beer, wine, juice, soda, water and snacks.
HTH

I only have knowledge on Garden Grocer, but if you go to their website it has all of the information you are looking for, including how far in advance to order.

I just placed our order a couple of days ago w/ Gardengrocer for our upcoming July trip. First time to use them. You can put the tip right into your order (I did).

I do have a question for those of you that have used Gardengrocer in the past......we will not be at the resort at time of delivery, we will have checked in, but will be in the parks. I just assumed they would leave the order w/ Bell Services? or should I call and have this noted on my order? Thanks!

How much is the delivery charges for each of the 3 services and is there a minimum purchase amount?

TIA

Gardengrocer has a $50 minimum and $12 delivery charge. Still less expensive than buying drinks all week at the resort and parks!

I thought there was a place for tips.
What is expected 20%?

We ordered a lot of heavy things...cases of water, laundry soap ect...

:thumbsup2 Amen to that! We are getting sodas, water bottles, breakfast foods, fruit, and wine.

If I order now for my September trip, do they charge me now, or when it gets delivered?

Yes, there is a place on the order to put the tip, yes, I tipped 20% of order total (not including the delivery charge...). :thumbsup2

Same here - ordered drinks and breakfast food and some fruit.

this is kind of on topic here but would we really need to buy coffee? If my eyes arn't fooling me then i have seen a FULL size coffee pot at SSR 1BDR (hallalujah!) do they supply the coffee for that daily? I also see dishdetergent in the pics as well... does anyone know what "comes" with the room?

Well, as I expected I would get some great and very useful information here on the boards!! I really do appreciate all the advice.

Now the hard part ................ waiting for vacation to start!!

If you are tipping 20% on your order form, do you also tip bell services if/when they deliver it to your room? I'm assuming so, but how much do they get? :confused3
