Hey all,

Going to be arriving April 29th Me, my wife, 4 kids, FIL, MIL, SIL.

We need to order groceries for the week - we're staying in a 2BR at bay lake tower, so we have a kitchen

I've been looking into delivery services, we need to get some alcohol, so that disqualifies a few. Looking at Dizzy Dolphin and comparing to Safeway delivery.

Safeway is about $50 cheaper, and you can see the actual product you're ordering. I don't have a safeway where I live, so I can't vouch for quality. Its a pretty easy process, though.

My only concern is that I might be relying on an 18 year old kid working for safeway who might never have delivered to a hotel before. The delivery servcies do it all the time. Wondering if there are some hurdles or ticks to the trade that safeway might not know.

Has anyone every used safeway delivery? To a hotel? To BLT?

Thanks

I haven't used safeway but if you haven't looked into garden grocer yet we always use them and have had good experiences. They will also deliver alcohol but I believe it's mainly beer, wine, wine cooler type things and no hard liquor. (I know you didn't ask for other suggestions but wanted to throw this out there just in case). Have a great trip!

I am interested in this as well. I have used We Go Shop in the past but due to some negative reviews recently I was thinking of trying Dizzy Dolphin for our upcoming trip. Safeway would be less expensive but I will probably go with Dizzy Dolphin for peace of mind since as you said delivering to the Disney resorts is their business.

We used Safeway last trip, and I've used it at home several times as well. The quality is just fine, no different than Publix, Giant, any regular grocery store.

I put in my comments to have them call my cell phone when they were on the way (I had a one hour delivery window the night we arrived, so I knew we'd be in the room). The delivery guy called and brought it all right to the room (even though Safeway says they don't accept tips, I did tip him cash, it's up to your discretion). He was definitely not 18, as I was ordering beer and wine. They will need your ID for beer or wine delivery, so make sure you're there.

Their prices were much better than Garden Grocer. I was happy with the service, and would use it again (I've used Garden Grocer many times, but now that Safeway delivers, I'll use them as they're cheaper).

I would use Safeway or Garden Grocer. Personally I prefer GG because I can order beer and wine and they'll leave it with Bell Services. I looked into Dizzy Dolphin, but I want to see what's available and prices upfront.

we used Safeway in November and it was great. Prices were really good. We did have to meet them at Bell Services to show ID for the alcohol.

The delivery person wasn't a dumb kid, he knew what he was doing, was extremely polite and well mannered. They deliver to Disney a lot now, so they know the way to go, act, etc. You don't have to worry that you'll be the first person/guinea pig for their delivery.

Arriving the same day, but staying at BWV. Just placed an order with them and got the free delivery for first time order. Ordering was easy, hopefully delivery will be the same.

Hey all,

Back from the trip. It was awesome.

Safeway worked out really great. The price was better than everyone else by far.

We had a 5 hour flight delay getting down there. That meant that it was delivered before we could make it to the hotel. The driver handled that well. We ordered alcohol, and they require ID for that. I was able to take a picture of my ID and texted it to the driver.

It worked out great. I will definitely use them again.

We had the same experience - everything went well save for a couple of minor issues. Our flight was delayed leaving Chicago and we were still in the air when the groceries were delivered. Not a big deal, but I had 3 voice-mails from the delivery guy about leaving the beer and wine we ordered. I called back as soon as we landed and he said Bell Services took delivery and would check my ID when we got to the hotel, so it turned out to be a non-issue. Bell Services delivered all of our food and wine, but forgot the beer - not a Safeway issue. Bell Services delivered the case we ordered but we were missing a 6 pack. I called down again, they checked everywhere and while they were scampering about we reviewed the delivery invoice and noticed that Safeway did not have that beer in stock so it wasn't delivered. Mea culpa for not checking first.

Overall - easy to do and would definitely use them again.
