I was looking for some idea as to what is sold at the general store at the BWV. We won't be stopping at the grocery store before checkin and need some breakfast items and maybe some fruit, milk (whole and 1%), water, yogurt and cream for coffee. We aren't really picky and can do without.
Has anyone been lately and know what is sold? Thanks!

In August, I brought down some of those snack pack cereals. Then, I had some groceries shipped in. I had bread, milk, half and half, oj, pretzels, peanut butter..that sort of thing. When I went to the Screen Door, I realized that yes, things were more expensive there, but I could have gotten almost every single thing I had ordered there. I'm sure it would have been a bit less if I hadn't had to pay the delivery charge as well as the tip...I think that was an addtl $25 total.
You will find just about anything you may need at the Screen Door. It may not be the exact brand you are used to but it will be available.

OK great! Thanks. Basically we are bringing dry good in our luggage. I am not sure how my favorite Dunkin' Doughnut bagels will travel. We are at the Contemp for the first 2 nights. They may be stale. Other than that it is all dairy and maybe some fruit.

For the few things that we need I bet we don't notice the little extra money it costs. How much worse can it be then buying groceries in the Boston area right.:sad2:

I don't believe the Screen Door sold any fruit. If I remember correctly, I always had to buy it at the Boardwalk Bakery. Ok for your dairy products - though it is a little expensive. I've always packed granola bars, cereal, and crackers to bring myself; bought the milk, oj, cheese and chips at Screen Door.

The Screen Door usually sells bananas and oranges, although they don't have a very large supply. :thumbsup2
Everything else you mentioned can be gotten there, plus deli meats, cheeses, microwave stuff, etc. :goodvibes

We're all from Mass. - Howdy neighbors!

This is way too funny!
LOL!!! I just noticed that!! Here is a Mass tip for saving money on groceries: SHOP AT MARKET BASKET!!:rotfl2:

Thank you all. It sounds like we will be all set. Bananas will be just fine.

I grocery shopped there in May and the store had everything on your list. It wasn't as pricy as I expected.

We just got back from WDW, I ordered from gardengrocer.com before we left, and it was already delivered to bell services at POR by the time we arrived....We saved a ton of money by doing it that way!!:woohoo:

If you have a car there's a big name grocery store (can't remember what chain) at Crossroads Shopping Center right across the street from Disney property.

I stayed there last year with a group of friends and we thought it would be fun to get some food for breakfast since we had a kitchenette. If I remember right they have all of the basics from butter, milk, orange juice, eggs, bread, cheese, bagels, donuts, etc... Maybe a little more expensive than a grocery store, but more convenient than going to an actual store. Oh and the grocery store at Crossroad's (pretty close to DTD) is Goodings.

The Goodings store at Crossroads is very high priced. Since you won't have transportation, you should be able to find everything at either Screen Door, the Beach Club Marketplace, or there is also a small Hess convenience store within walking distance of BWV that carries typical convenience store items.

The selection of groceries at the DVC resorts is pretty comprehensive. They carry a little bit of everything. If one store is sold out, check another. It's really nice to have BCV and BWV so close, just for this reason.

If you get to the point you are considering grocery delivery, keep in mind that you could also take a taxi to the Winn Dixie grocery on SR535 (about a mile north of the Crossroads shopping center). Winn Dixie is a lot cheaper than Goodings, and if the taxi fare comes close to the delivery fee and tip, you might as well pick out exactly what you want and do it yourself. You can get taxi fare estimates on the Mears Transportation website, under taxis.

Now you must be a mind reader! Your right. We don't have a car. I didn't even think of checking out the new store at the Beach Club and I didn't know about the Hess being that close. AWESOME!

Camster now I feel like a dork. Of course you staying at the BW! My POST was about the BW!!! I really am a very smart girl most of the time.:teacher:
Looks like we will not be seeing each other's lime green Mickeys this time around.

One more question:What kind of coffee filters do they use in the studios? We are staying on points so no daily refills. Will they give me a bunch or should I bring my own? Lord knows I can't get started with the Dunkin's coffee!

We stayed at BWV this past August. We used gardengrocer.com and had our groceries (breakfeast foods and water) delivered right to our room. It was easy, inexpensive and no worrying about having to grocery shop once we got there.

Me again. Great minds think alike - I ALWAYS bring my own coffee and filters - Everything at Disney is magical -- except the coffee!:sad2:

I don't think they take the cone shaped filters - the machines, I believe are like Mr.Coffee -- I could be wrong though. Don't think it matters - you can make whatever filters you bring fit. I know I do!

Maybe we'll bump into each other next year. Because, of course, being the Disney freak that I am, haven't even gone on this trip yet and I'm already thinking about next year's!:cool1:

Do you bring the Dunkies?

I wish we could say we were going next year but it's more like 2009 and probably at the OKW if I can get a renter. We want to do a big family trip so we need a 2bedroom. My Dad who isn't a Disneyite says he will go ONLY if we get OKW. THE PRESSURE!
We are betraying the mouse and hoping to spend one day at the new Harry Potter park.

The coffee machines are Mr. Coffee. They take the regular flat bottom filters, and they do sell filters in the shop there if that's one less thing you want to pack. The only coffee I remember in the shop was Maxwell House.
