Been reading some Threads on Height Requirements and getting a little concerned! My son who is 4 but will be 5 in June and measures here at home at 42' with shoes off. I know & do believe safety first but has anyone had an issue with this certain ride with small children and there height?

The height requirement is 42".
If he's 42" without shoes at home, he should be fine.

The cast members always put safety first. If he is 42 in without shoes you will be fine. They do over compensate for ride heights i believe

Absolutely, their insurance/lawyers basically guarantee that the ride heights are well within safety limits so if your kid measures up, he'll be fine -- you can rest easy.

I can offer extra reassurance on GRR - our son was just 42 inches when we went and GRR felt very safe. The belt fit him well, it is not a wild ride, and you can almost always arrange to have him sitting in a middle seat. In fact, it was one of his favorite rides and at one point, we went on it 6 times in a row.

Now, I did not feel as safe with him on BTMR - I felt like he was going to slip under the bar at anytime and the height requirement is only 40 inches for that one. Now, I am not discouraging you from BTMR - my son did not slip under the bar and I am sure it is perfectly safe. But my perception of safety was influenced by alot of things, not just height requirement. And if I spent the whole ride worried about him, then I didn't have much fun either. You can search on youtube for videos of almost every ride at DLR and that helped me to know what to expect. (It also helped my son).

My daughter was about just below 42" but about 42" with shoes when she first went on.
We went in the summer and she was to short (around 39-40") and they said she could not go. When we went back in december she was allowed on because she was exactly right at the height requirement.

My 3 year old was tall enough this last week. We just put him between us, not on an edge. It was fine.

With BTMRR I have always had that same fear, even with my 11-12 year olds! I always have my kids ride together and the adults ride together, because I can't get the lap bar down far enough to meet my kids' skinny legs, it always stops at my leg height (much bigger, LOL) I am petrified they will slip out because they love to put their arms up.

That ride gives me more anxiety than any other one, let me tell you!
