Just wondering if anyone here has ever used Gripe Water with any of their children and what the results were?

I'm going to the ped. tomorrow for Liam's 2 month check-up and I was going to ask him what he things about it for mild Colic symptoms.

I've used Gripe water with all the boys. Not sure if it will have any effect with colic, but it works for hiccups!

What is Gripe Water?
A traditional European remedy, gripe water contains safe, fast, effective, natural ingredients for relieving colic discomforts. Gripe water has been used by mothers for over a century to provide relief from the discomforts of colic, stomach cramps, hiccups, gas and teething.

Yes, I used it for Teagan whenever she was gassy and it always worked almost instantly.

I wish they would have had that when my now 17yo was an infant. He had colic for the first 3 months of his life.

:teeth: Hillbeans I just gotta tell you that I was only talking about this stuff with my Mom the other day! Apparently my brother who was a VERY colicky baby used to drink this stuff and it worked a treat on him! and that was 35 years ago!

I just remember that I used to love the taste of it! YUM!!

Good luck with Liam!

I would have another baby without it!!!! Both of my kids used it and I always suggest it.

Thanks T1Gem, Lewdyan, Breezycarol,Blondie, Cabmom for your replies. My DH stopped from work and picked up a bottle at "The Right Start" store at the mall.

It smells like licorice, and I gave it to Liam just a short time ago and he instantly let out a huge burp (LOL, sorry - but it's true) and smiled. It has Ginger and Fennel and some other herb in it, but apparently it's been around for over 100 years. I think we're already through the stretch of Colic with him being almost 10 weeks now, but anything to help for the next month or so is greatly appreciated!!

My DD hated it! She would spit it out no matter how I tried to administer it or disguise it. The two times I semi-forced it on her in frustration, she vomited everywhere. I've heard others who've said it works those.

I see it also has sodium bicarbonate- baking soda, it's what's in tums if I remember correctly.

I wish I'd known about that when DD was a baby. She was sooo colicky.

Ginger calms the stomach. Glad to hear it is working.
