Cast of Characters:

Myself - 35 year old single gal who is more than ready to go home
Jane Smith - 62 year old who finally decided she cannot walk

My day started with the notion that I have only one more full day with Jane Smith after today, the countdown had begun. Jane actually wanted to get up early today to be at Epcot when they opened, I was shocked. So we got ready quickly and headed downstairs to Fresh for breakfast. This was quite an interesting place, I really liked the buffet breakfast a lot. Breakfast didn't take that long and then it was off to the boat launch for Epcot. As we approached the dock, there was clearly two lines, one for Epcot and one for MGM. Seems pretty clear to me, but oh no, not to Jane. The boat pulled up for MGM and immediately Jane started asking if we could get on this boat for Epcot, DUH, read the signs, I just shook my head (guess I've done a lot of that on this trip). Finally the boat for Epcot arrived and I enjoyed a leisurly ride to Epcot. Jane had finally decided she could take no more walking and was going to rent an ECV. I figured this was for the best and encouraged it. The funniest thing though...she made me promise I would not tell anyone that she needed it to get around, even my parents, as she didn't want it getting out at church. I could not understand this at all, what is the big deal, there's nothing wrong with using an EVC, but that was her thinking. So now we're off and ready to conquer Epcot. World Showcase was not open yet, so I suggested we hit Future World first. Now I know it takes a bit to get used to the EVC, but Jane was practically running everyone over. She did not watch where she was going or who might be in the way, in fact she barely missed running over my foot, I knew this was going to be a fun day. We headed for Test Track and the line was minimal, so we went in. I didn't expect Jane to ride this, but she said she wanted to. Ok then, we get to our car and Jane was having much trouble stepping into it, I asked if she needed help and got a big NO!!!! We are ready to take off, everything was fine until we hit the rough terrain and Jane commented that hurt her back, funny our roads back in Michigan are worse than this. When we hit the high speeds I thought for sure she would lose it, but she surprised me and was fine. Next up we headed for Spaceship Earth, I had not been inside this my first time so I was anxious to check it out. Jane was quite happy as she could ride her EVC into the attraction. We waited for a castmember to come get us to load and then we were off. I was quite surprised as I thought this attraction was only about space, so it was nice to find out different. Jane liked it, until the cars went backwards and then her back started hurting her, oh well, it's always something. Next up was the Living Seas. I think she almost ran about 10 people over with the EVC, I just claimed ignorance in knowing her. We skipped the movie and headed straight for the aquariums. I split up from Jane and did some looking on my own. I then headed over to Turtle Talk, but about half way through the program my cell phone started going off, it was Jane. So I left and went to find Jane, who was looking at the gifts to purchase. Since we were so close we then headed for Ice Station Cool, again I had not done this on the last trip. It was sort of cool to see the different sodas, the only one I remember really liking was from Israel I think, sort of a sour grapefruit. I didn't say a word to Jane on what to try or not, so she tried Beverly, and I was laughing inside. I said oh I'm sorry, I forgot to tell you that one was nasty - revenge can be sweet! We were still pretty early so I figured we would check out Honey I Shrunk the Audience. I thought it was a cute show, however Jane hated the mice running in the audience. By this time World Showcase had opened, so we headed over towards Canada. We poked in a few of the shops and I bought myself a cookbook. We then headed towards the United Kingdom and I went into all the shops. There were street performers so we stopped to watch the show, it was cute and Jane actually smiled. Next up was France, we split up here and I went into some of the shops. It was about 1:15 and our PS for Chefs de France wasn't until 2:00, but we were both hungry, so I went to check if they could get us in early, no problem. I was very happy with my pick for lunch, the food was great. Jane and I both had the French menu which consisted of French Onion Soup, Croque Monsieur with Salad, and Creme Brulee. I substituted the creme brulee for sorbet with an elephant ear. I loved this meal. Of course Jane loved the soup and ate the entire bowl, so then she wasn't hungry for her entree, oh well. After lunch I went outside to call home and sat on a bench for a bit. Jane watched a show going on outside of the restaurant. Once I finished my call, I noticed that Beauty and the Beast were doing greetings, so I ventured over there. Jane would not take my picture, I had to have a castmember do it. After pictures we headed around the World Showcase, stopping in some of the stores, etc. We made our way to Norway and the Malestorm. There was a bit of a line, but I really wanted to do this attraction. I suggested to Jane that she leave the EVC outside as the lines looked long and narrow, but she insisted on riding it. Big mistake as I thought, she couldn't turn the corners of the lines without backing up and running into people, she was getting some nasty looks from other guests. Finally got up to the boarding area and Jane tried to take the EVC on the boat, that was not happening, so she finally got seated and we were off. I liked this ride, it was sort of different, but of course Jane did not like the little hill. After the ride I stopped off at the Norway bakery and bought some chocolate croissants to take home with me, YUM! We made our way back around to Canada and watched a bit of Off Kilter, but of course this was too loud for Jane, she wanted to leave. At this point I made the decision to take off on my own and head back to MGM for EMH night. Jane didn't seem too happy about this, but oh well. She was going to stay at Epcot and take one more trip around World Showcase. So I was off to MGM. I made a quick stop at the hotel to change my shoes and drop off my packages and then headed for the boat dock. I got to MGM right at 7pm when the park was closing, so I immediately went and got my EMH bracelet. I wanted to hit Tower of Terror, but figured I should stay away from the area of Fantasmic until it let out, so I headed for the Great Movie Ride, this one was much better than the ride earlier in the week. By this time I was getting a bit hungry so I bought some popcorn and a soda. I headed towards Star Tours, I wasn't sure if I was up for it, but at least I could check it out. This part of the park was empty, it was pretty eery. I finished my popcorn and decided to give Star Tours a try, it wasn't bad at all and I'd probably ride it again. I walked around for a bit and headed over to Tower of Terror, the wait was 25 minutes, I was a bit disappointed, but decided to wait. The line went fairly quickly and I was inside before I knew it. I ended up in an evelator with a huge group of people that didn't speak Engligh, I was the only one not in their group, so I felt a little uncomfortable. I knew I wanted to ride again once the ride was finished, but headed to Rock n Roller Coaster first. The wait was 45 minutes, so I turned right back around and went back to Tower of Terror and rode it twice in a row. On my third try I got the sequence I really like, so I called it a night and headed for the boat. I left the park about 9:30 and this was perfect, as the boat was not too crowded yet. I still had not eaten dinner, so I went to Tubi's. I had not heard great things about this place, but it was getting late and I didn't want to spend the money on room service. I was pleasantly surprised in that I enjoyed my meal a lot, I had a strip steak with mashed potatoes and veggies, it really was tasty. Once I finished dinner I headed back for my room, figured I would watch a bit of TV before I went to sleep. Unfortunately, Jane was asleep with all the lights off, so I had to try to be quiet and get ready for bed, so no TV for me. I fell asleep knowing that tomorrow I'd get to see my long dog and get away from Jane.

Up next - day 7 and the run through the airport

I hope you get back to Disney soon, you really deserve a good vacation. What was her reasoning for not taking a picture of you with belle & the Beast? It's just a picture, it only takes a second. :confused3

I love reading your reports, but I hate that you had such a fun-sucker on the trip!

I loved your trip reports: they are hysterical, but I also feel for you so much!!

I can't help but think how many people probably got run over after you left Jane by herself in the ECV at Epcot! Eeep!!

Your trip reports are great. I feel so sorry for you for having such a wet blanket with you. The good thing is at least you were at WDW instead of Romania!

Jeanelle

I've read all of your trip reports. I still can't decide whether to commend you for your patience or chastise you for it. If I ever found myself in that situation, I would have either disappeared or drank during all daylight hours.

Okay, all caught up. Glad you got to spend some time alone during your trip.

Just finished reading all 6 parts. You deserve another WDW trip right away after having to put up with Jane Smith . We took my wife's parents who are in there mid 70's a few years ago and had a great time. We walked and saw everything and just had a great time. Hope your able to make it back with your Mom.

What all she did was complain about walking ( well actually everything) and now she's worried what other people think???
I must say that it was a good thing that you figured her out before you actually left the country with that ' woman" .
Oh yeah and wth was up with not taking your picture??? gee I always try to help people out and if they look like they want a pic I would help them . and she was suppposed to be wiht you !!!!!

I've read all of your reports and am really enjoying them. I can feel your pain but I can't help but feel a little sorry for Jane. She seems so needy. Maybe she wasn't held a lot as a child. :)
