I have been unable to find an answer to this question anywhere using the google so I thought I would take a shot here. We are heading south to Disneyworld this weekend. Being on a budget we are eating one meal at the condo, one out and will be doing sandwiches for the other.

I am wondering if anyone knows if we can grill in the parking lot or cook with a camp stove in the parking lot or is there a picnic area outside the gate? Thoughts?

There are no picnic areas outside or inside the parks for grilling that I have seen. The other issue is that the lots are so big that you will be wasting a ton of time going back to your vehicle, the MK especially, there is a tram or a boat that you need to ride just to get to the parking lot. Bringing sandwiches and snacks would be the best way.

I would say grilling is just not really an option IMO.

You could bring sandwiches into the parks, but I don't think they would allow tailgating in the parking lot. There isn't much room behind cars or between cars.

Reality is by the time you bring all the foods and items you would need to grill, you could have purchased a CS meal in the parks. Cut cost by drinking water (add flavor packs as needed), share meals, or bring chips and just purchase a sandwich. You can also bring other things besides sandwiches to carry into the parks, Pasta salad with a protein, deli tray type meal, wraps etc.

Sorry - not allowed!

If you are already eating one meal at the condo, one out, and sandwiches for the other, which other meal would you be wanting to grill out anyway? :confused3 Just bring healthy snacks for in between instead of taking up lots of precious time with cooking full meals - everyone will survive a few days. ;)

Although not specifically the question you asked something to think about is Disneyworld is huge (according to modern marvels it is the size of Manhatten) and each of the 4 parks and parking lots is huge also. It is a well run system but getting from point a to point b anywhere within "the world" takes time, 20-45 minutes or more per leg.

You can't grill but it is very easy to bring food with you.

My first suggestion is to go to Target and get one of these: http://www.target.com/p/igloo-maxcold-maxpack-cooler/-/A-13465885#prodSlot=medium_1_2&term=cooler And some ice packs to keep your food cold. Personally, I just leave it in a locker until we are ready to eat.

Here are threads with food ideas to bring and where to eat.

No, the parking lots are not set up to make this conducive. There is no picnic area outside the Disney parks. I would just bring sandwiches and snacks into the park or buy CS meals there.

We thought about picnicking from our car at Disney as we've done it at Six Flags. But, it just isn't practical at Disney.

So, we stashed $5 footlongs in a locker instead.

We survived our first several visits to WDW on just ONE nice meal...each trip! We fixed a big breakfast at the condo before we left for the parks. Dad carried a backpack with granola bars, crackers, frozen individual yogurt and applesauce, nuts, and water (again, frozen). We snacked on that all day long, then planned a substantial snack when we returned to the condo at night. We didn't buy any soda in the parks, and maybe once or twice bought a snack. It can be done!
