Grilled cheeses......

I roast some onions and mushrooms in the oven. Grate some gouda cheese. Butter one side of two slices of honey wheat bread.

In a skillet, place one slice bread, butter side down, sprinkle gouda, spoon roasted mushrooms and onions, sprinkle gouda, top with second slice of bread, butter side up. Grill over medium heat until brown, carefully flip, brown other side. Eat!

Best grilled cheese ever!

White Bread, soft butter the outside, Sargentos Cheddar Cheese and thinly sliced Tomato's!!!

Oooey Goooey Tomatoey Awesomeness!!

My fave is a basic grilled cheese. I usually like all the exotic fillings but strangely, the basic one is just the best.

The best I have ever had is from Melt - a small grilled cheese specialty restaurant chain in the Cleveland area. I happily drive an hour out of my way when I am in the area.

Freshly baked bread and good quality cheese makes all the difference! I don't care much for regular Kraft slices and avoid it unless I'm super lazy.

I also avoid American Cheese as much as I can. There's nothing better than a mixture of cheeses in a grilled cheese sandwich, gouda, cheddar, gruyere, etc!

Very important to have fresh bread, and not the wonder kind. I've used italian bread, french bread, even rye bread, and all of them were great!

Lastly, always use butter. Not margarine. Huge difference.

Im really curious about the mayo thou? :scratchin Never tried that!

Cuban bread... REAL cuban bread... cut a chunk off, slice in half, and turn inside out. butter and toast and add sharp cheddar and smoked gouda.

NOM NOM NOM

Maybe Havarti if you have it too!

LOVE Melt... the Kindergartener!! I need to go backl!!

In our house we have grilled pimento cheese sandwiches with bacon and tomatoes. Sometimes I made a grilled pepperjack cheese sandwich with sliced avocados, bacon and tomatoes. I always use a thick crusty bread.

I like the traditional - white bread with Kraft cheese slices. I use either butter (if it's not soft enough, I just throw a chunk in the middle of the bread and the heat will melt/distribute it) or mayo. I prefer the butter. But Mayo makes it crispier. I make them in the oven, too. I can then get everyone's done at the same time.

Oh, and I put pickle slices on, and dip them in a mayo/ketchup mixture.

I also like pesto and provolone.

I should add - when we were camping for my DD's birthday, for breakfast I made her grilled cream cheese sandwiches. He fave food in the world is cheesecake.

It was yummy cheesecake goodness :)

One cafe I visited made strawberry cream cheese paninis. Strawberry preserves, cream cheese, oodles of butter - all in a panini press. OMG it was decadent.

My DH is traveling, so I made myself a grilled cheese for dinner last night. I use thick cut Italian crusty bread with soft butter on all 4 sides, inside and out. I use swiss and cheddar slices. I then throw in some cooked bacon slices. Grill in my panini press. Yummy!

I love the traditional grilled cheese with white bread, butter and American cheese.

Sometimes, to change it up, I grill honey whole wheat bread with Muenster cheese (and butter)

I have used the mayo before (thank-you Paula Deen) and its really good, like someone said it makes it crispy. I have found that when I use a lower temp, it makes the browning more even.

My very favorite is white bread with real butter, tomato and bacon, fallowed by ham, cheese, mustard and bread and butter pickles.

Very sharp Cheddar cheese and smoked bacon, homemade bread & butter to grill.

or Brie, slice apple, homemade bread & butter to grill.

I've used mayo. It's good! We like the basic Italian bread from the bread aisle and American and provolone cheese. That and a bowl of Campbell's tomato soup make me very happy!

I think I know what's for dinner tomorrow!

Tried mayo....it's really good. I was surprised (as I don't eat mayo on anything else!) :confused3:thumbsup2

But seriously...

1. Go to Panera

2. Order the "Big Kid's Grilled Cheese"

3. Eat. Devour. Savor. NOM NOM NOM!!!:woohoo:

Fresh Pumpernickel, aged swiss sliced thin-2 slices, three very thin slices of a tomato right off the vine. Slow grill the bread and cheese. When the swiss begins to ooze, lift bread top quickly and arrange the thin tomato slices evenly. You will be making yourself another one while you're eating the first one. pixiedust:

another way to make it crispy and fluffy looking is that do not press on the grilled cheese sandwich will making it. Just use a spatula to turn it but do not press on it. I like the mayo idea. While try that:cheer2:
