Greetings From the 10/9 Magic

This thread had EXCELLENT updates! I loved Q on 70s night this summer. He was TERRIFIC!

Also, thx for the CC updates. What would it be like to get sunny skies with no rain at CC! Whew!

We are also back home after a great cruise. We have booked again for Oct. 28, 2006 Eastern.
Does anyone know how to change the countdown timer?

Well, greetings from cold and overcast NJ! I'll take a rainy CC anyday.

As mentioned, the sun did come out after lunch on Friday. My Mom, Sister and I did make off the Magic and walked around CC for a bit. We also decided to take one for the team and sample the Konk Koolers. (I'm glad I took a picture of the drink description :smooth: ) We took the tram to Serenity Bay and then headed back. Both my nephews were in the DU Graduation ceremony at 5PM. Our last dinner was in AP. Needless to say, it was a little sad. Romeo and Mizar were super at taking care of both the adults and the kids of this merry group. John made on one nephew cry when he swiped his pirate sword when he was not looking. He felt so bad, he kept apologizing to both him and my Brother.

We did not catch the Farewell show. We needed to pack. We did see the Till We Meet Again show in the Atrium. The ending brought a small tear to my eye.

I've heard a number of complaint regarding getting on and off the ship yesterday. Personally, Disney wrote the book on moving large masses of people. We were off the ship and at the Avis counter by 9:20AM yesterday. It was also nice to see the Wonder in port yesterday. I think she is going into dry dock soon?

Since my Mom and I had sometime to kill before our flight home, we drove to Downtown Disney and Saratoga Springs (DVC). I was blown away by SSRS. I knew I made a good decision. We grabbed some lunch at Fultons, picked up a few last things and headed to MCO. (I have a new favorite domestic airline, Song.) Pulled in the driveway by 9:15PM, to find no towel animal or chocolates on my bed. Damn, I miss Raymund!!!!! Now all that's left are the hundreds of pictures and dirty laundry.

Surfergirl, My Sister and Brother both rebooked for the 10/28/06 Eastern. Apparently everybody dress-up for Halloween. (John mentioned that the one year his parents were on, they were the Flintstones.)

Kiki, the discount was $10 a point. They would apply it either towards your DVC downpayment, shipcredit/cash or towards your next cruise. I took it towards my DVC dowmpayment. I will say this in Ann and Susan's defence, they did get slammed on Thursday and Friday. I spoke to them in great detail early in the week. When I finally decided, it took 15 minutes to complete the paperwork.

Alright, I have laundry and no food in the house. I'll do a good/bad, pro/con list later.

I can't believe we didn't look and see the Wonder in Port Canaveral. We were all fairly exhasted and didn't bother to venture around. Argh!

At the time we finished breakfast (we were at the 6:45 sitting), I don't believe the ship had been cleared. People were lined up almost to the back entrance to Lumiere's. Once the ship was cleared and folks starting getting off, it seemed like it was slow. But then again, why do you want to rush getting off the ship.

We had collected our luggage and were in the parking lot waiting for our ride by 8:20. Looking back, the whole process did go fairly quickly. I think it took a total of 30 minutes to go from the ship, collect our luggage, find a porter, clear customs, and walk across the street to the white tent. Not bad in my opinion.

Had a magical first cruise, kicking myself for not rebooking onboard, did i read somewhere that you can book from home within a couple of days of sailing to still qualify for discounts ??

It was great to meet people from the boards, Jeff great bubble machine and loved the apple Kore ?

Will post more later, am totally exhaused and wondering why room service isn't answering and why i'm making my own bed tonight LOL.

Trip report to follow.

Glad everyone made it home safely and heres' to the next one.

Yes, it was me with the bubble machine. The cruise was a lot of fun.

It wasn't my fault the jeep kept stalling. Its a classic problem with jeeps getting water in the distributor.

And both jeeps stalled out at various points.

Yes, the bubble machine was a lot of fun. I fired it up at Cozumel and at Castaway Cay in the afternoon. Lot of people enjoyed it. It was really great at Cozumel cause the wind was just right and bubbles were blowing down the entire length of the ship.

The rain was also a bummer at Castaway Cay, but we turned it into packing time and enjoyed walking around the last few hours on the last night. Oh, and we joined DVC that night. 200 point members now.

Also for whoever asked about horseback riding. Yes its a good ride, but no where near as nice as Grand Cayman. The town is a bit run down and definitely third world, but also has a lot of friendly people. You'll do a bit of beach riding, but most of it is through the town. The horses are great, but the guides do not speak english. It departs from Tequila beach resort which is a nice little bar on the beach just between the town and the pier (you do need a taxi, I don't know who said you can walk to the town, but they are mistaken) and the place has a great cheap bar, a nice beach and some other stuff. Cost about $31 for 10 drinks and two plates of munchies.

BRING MOSQUITO REPELLENT FOR THE RIDE!!!!

The port area itself was nice, but the shop keepers are very similar to cozumel, very pushy. I much prefer key west and grand cayman shop owners to the mexican shop owners.

Neither are as bad as the hair braiding women in nassau though.

:earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: From our family to yours. We were on the Disney Magic 10/9/04 sail date. It was our first time, we weren't quite sure what to expect. WOW!!! We had an awesome time. My DH, DD (5), DS (3) are booking for 2006 with our entire family. Disney is superb in service and atmosphere, we miss the ship.....Just think, everyone is in Key West right now. Well, until next time!!

We also just got back from the 10/09 Westeren! It was our first and it was awesome! We hated leaving the ship and are hoping to plan another cruise! The weather was wonderful and there was hardly any rocking except our last night!! CC was great after it stormed , I hope everyone else is as lucky as us.

:earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: 1 cruise down!

It was neat to see the Wonder in port Saturday morning. It doesn't happen to often that both ships are in the same place at the same time, though I guess they've been together in Port Everglades a few times over the past month or two.

I'm really kicking myself though, because as we were flying out of MCO on Saturday afternoon I realized that we would be flying right over the port. We had a great areal view of both ships, as well as the Carnival and HAL ships. Unfortunately, my camera was in the overhead bin and I couldn't get to it to take a photo. It would have made a great final shot for the trip.

Jeff, we don't blame you for the jeep stalling. Some of those puddles were huge!!. We had a great time anyway. I definately recommend the dune buggy tour on Cozumel.

My opinion of Costa Maya was also a yawn. I would have prefered Grand Cayman.

I have to say, that this was probably our best cruise yet. However, we won't be going back until they change to some different ports. DH would like to try RCCL and see how they compare:( .

I am now addicted to the spa.:) I had the couples massage with DH (spa taster, REAS package) and the aromastone therapy treatment. DH will not admit it, but he loved the spa treatment also;) .

We went out after the downpour on CC and had a blast. DH and I rented bikes and rode over to the adults only beach. I had never been there before and it was great. I didn't realize just how far out you could go before the water went past your knees. We saw all kinds of fish and shells.

Overall, we had a great time.

I have to add the baskets that Shirley made for my DD's were wonderful!!:sunny: Luckily I got to the room before them and took pictures. As soon as they walked into the room, they riped them apart.

We used FL Tours for our transportation and we got Andy twice as our driver. I highly recommend them. We always use them and have never had a problem.:)

Finally, we did get some pixie dust on this trip. When we got to CR, they offered to upgrade us to the YC, but since we were going to the Magic Kingdom and would only be there one night, I declined. Imagine my surprise, when they then upgraded us to conceirge(sp?)!! We have never stayed in conceirge(sp?), so this was a real treat.

I did get a picture of the Wonder at the port, but I'm not sure how it came out. I have to get my pictures online and see (I haven't had time, I'm still doing laundry:rolleyes: )LOL.

If anyone has any questions, let me know.:wave2:
