First post here - just introducing myself. :)

I'm Chris from Pennsylvania. My wife and I are beginning to plan for a WDW retreat in December 2008 (hey, we're planners!) and am SO glad to have found this site. The information is amazing!

Anyway, happy new year everyone!

Hi, I'm new to this site too. I just posted my first thread tonight. My husband and kids, along with my Aunt and Uncle are all planning a trip in December 2008 as well. We plan on going Dec 5th, but my Aunt tells me we should go the 2nd or 3rd so we can get better air rates, so nothing is written in stone yet.

Will this be your first trip to Disney?

Welcome to the DisBoards!!!
I grew up in Camp Hill - What a small world!!! As a matter of fact I was just there over the holidays to visit my family.

Welcome to the Disboards!!!:cool1:

You will love Disney in December....everything is decorated for the holidays and it is such a wonderful feeling and time. If you have any specific questions, please ask away....

Wow, thanks you guys! What a happy, cheerful place.

wardfamily1, this will be both of ours first trip, and we are getting excited already!

thebecka, the world is indeed small! Camp Hill is so lovely this time of year - with no snow that is. ;)

The only question I have, make that two, at this time are:

1) What would be the best week to visit, with the least crowds? We were thinking getting there the day Pop Warner ends, so we'd be in the parks the day after the event up until probably Dec. 16 or so. Would that be the best? We're not big crowd people, so this is a very important factor for us.

2) In looking at resorts, I cannot justify the expense for a deluxe, so we are looking at three options. Swan/Dolphin if prices are right, Coronado Springs or renting points at a DVC villa - Boardwalk, Yacht or Beach Club would all be sufficient. Any advice on this?

Thanks, everyone, and hope you all have a splend Wednesday evening. :)

sppunk... maybe this will help alittle....
question 1 - it might be worth it to subscribe to tourguidemike. the cost is less than $20 and considering how much we pay for a week at WDW is a drop in the bucket. What you will find on TGM site... list of what days to go to what parks...(priceless)... he gives you ideas of how crowded what parks will be on what days....suggestions for how to tour the parks..and he gives you the reasons why he is making the recommendations he does.... the site can be overwhelming at first because there is ALOT of information but once you dig thru it you will find it a great tool.

2. as far as hotel goes.... we have stayed at Poly, Pop century, PQFQ, CSR and SOG - we choose SOG most often because of the incredibly low price for us (retired military) but I can tell you we loved CSR as well. If you qualify for SOG check it out... we stayed at CSR last April - had a room on steps away from the swinging hammocks on the beach..... at the end of the lake ... cabanas 8 I think... it was fabulous....

happy planning and WELCOME!!!!! and GO SOX!!!!!!

Unfortunately (well, fortunately but let's not get into that :) ), no Shades of Green for us due to no military action - the wife's father is a retired Lt. Col., but not us!

I've studed the DVC rent point system, and it appears you can rent points for a week for roughly the same price (maybe a tad bit more) than a moderate resort. For the luxury of being able to walk to Epcot and MGM, it'd be worth that. I just can't really justify the double (or more!) cost per night for the deluxes! Call me cheap. ;)

Thanks for the info on the site.
