Greeting Fellow "DISer's"

We did meet one a couple of years ago. She was getting on the boat that takes you to Epcot from the Swan and Dolphin. We were already on the boat and she sat down next to us. We said hello and just started talking to her. Somehow in our conversation we found out she was a Diser too. I don't recall her wearing anything lime either. She was very nice and we really had a very nice conversation.

We'll be there in just 5 days and we'll have our lime green Mickey heads hanging from our backpack. Just say hi, we'd love to meet as many of you Disers as we can. We'll be looking for you too.

Michele

I just found out about Dis this year and the green mickey heads... I look forward to showing mine off and meeting others.. a friendly hello never hurt anybody! :) :wave2:

 I was lucky enough to be able to meet a few good DIS'er since we did the Illumination Dessert Party and also have casually walk to people who have something limey on them and luckily... they were DIS'ers... also I have the golden pin made from DTD stating my dis name "antss2001". Even though this kills my sister everytime I approach a "limey" person I still do it and love doing it... SO if you happend to be at the World on Sept. 29 to Oct 4 and see me.. dont hesitate to say hello..

also check the evergrowing population at PoP, PoP truning Lime on US

Usually we never see any DIS'ers no matter how hard we look! But on one trip, we shared our Illuminations cruise with other DIS couples. And oddly enough, when my DH did DiveQuest the next day, the girlfriend of one of the other divers was also DIS.

Then, as we were walking down Hollywood Blvd at MGM a couple of days later, we met another couple sporting lime green Mickeys.

I dunno . . . . maybe it was National DIS week or somethin' !!! :teeth:

Last October, at MNSSHP, we met Steamboat Marti and Magic Kingdom. We were walking through Frontierland, and Magic Kingdom spotted the MNSSHP t-shirts my wife had made, and asked. We had already met Maryliz and her family, who we had expected to meet, and Angiebelle (though we didn't know it). We were thrilled to meet fellow dissers.
This November/December I will be sporting my 'Thanks Walt' and Canada gear.

I would probably go up to them and say "Do you ever go online to the DIS boards?" In all my WDW/DL visits, I've yet to see any lime green anything - I keep hoping.

But if you see a frazzled looking 40ish woman at WDW in mid-July, wearing a lime green Lilo baseball cap - be sure to say hello, it could be me! :cool1:

Patti,
When will you be at POR. We'll be there July 16-23. I'll watch for you if you're there then.

You know....I never have seen anyone...and believe me..I've looked. Perhaps since we're there so much, I should purchase something lime green. :thumbsup2
It was REALLY difficult in the early 2000s, when there were a lot fewer DISers. The last couple years, I've seen several lime green Mickey heads per trip. And I find every DISer as thrilled as I am to meet another DISer. Watch out for the CMs too! Last trip, as a CM was putting on my bracelet for EMH at AK, he commented, casually, "Oh, I see you have a lime green Mickey head. You know, one of the internet boards I sometimes check uses that as a way to recognize other members at WDW" Then, he went on to the next person, leaving me to wonder-who was that?
I always have two lime green Mickey heads-one in front, on my lanyard, and one in back, hanging from my backpack. I figure someone's bound to see me, coming or going! And since I'm usually solo, I love meeting other DISers. So keep those lime green Mickey heads showing, and look for mine in September!

I will be looking for you--looks like we will be there the same time!? :cool1:

Where are you staying??

My DH and I will be in WDW September 10-16. I am fairly new to the DIS boards so I am just catching on to all this. I have a couple of lime green shirts I can take. Anyone is welcome to give me a yell if I am wearing the green. I think I will not tell DH about this. He knows I get on these boards but will freak out if anyone just came up and started chatting like they know me. I think it would be funny. He will too after the fact. Especially if we are having a cold one in Epcot :drinking1

Last Sept. my DD6 and I had fun making our lime green mickeys. We wrote on them and added stickers and then I laminated them (peel and stick kind). I also added peel and stick magnets to the back of a few. We put the magnetized one on the door and hung some others from our stroller and my messenger bag. No one noticed :sad2: . But we are going to do it again this Sept. So look for our mickey on our door at POP. See ya around the world :woohoo: :woohoo: .

I hate to say this, but I never say HI when I see someone that I think is from the DIS :tiptoe: My BF already calls me his little "Disney Dork" and when I point out a fellow DISer he just laughs. He loves going to WDW, but thinks I'm a little crazy or obsessed...whatever gave him that idea? I saw quite a few people on our last trip but still said nothing. Hopefully this trip I'll have the courage to speek up!

I was a little too shy last year to wear a lime green Mickey, and my family had been teasing me endlessly about the DIS, so I was "undercover". Not this year! :teeth: I am OUT and will be sporting my lime green August 21 thru 26. If any of you see a gal with short sandy hair being towed around by a rambuntious, slightly bossy very tiny 4 YO Princess, she will be me. Say HI! I'll be perched at the pool at POFQ.

So If I see Green I am coming at ya!!!! Look out!

I'll be looking for you too ! I was on the thread below this one (secret greeting I think it's called...the closer I get to WDW day the more brain cells go on mouseoverload :bounce: )

and Dillon will be wearing Mickey heads from HD on his collar so if you see us outside any of the kennels pop over and say HI!

I never approach someone merely wearing a lime green shirt or sun visor, because that could be ...... anybody.

However if it is more specific to The DIS with lime green ribbons and lime green Mickey heads, I will always speak up.

I usually travel solo, so this gets me speaking more to people. I have met quite a few DIS people, but only in the last few annual December vacations.

When I see the ribbons and Mickey heads, I approach them and ask
" Are you a DIS person ? " Plus I always wear my ribbons and MANY two sided Mickey heads.

Stop and say hello if you see me in late January !!!!!

September 15 I'll be at AKL, when everyone else is at MNSSHP. There's a thread on the "Happy Dance" board that had a large number of people going, so it looks like I'll be have the hotel to myself! Then the following week I'm at BCV stuffing myself with gelato and DDP foods!

DM and I will be at the Pop July 12-18!!!

We met one DIS family when getting onto the Monorail at the Poly back in 2001, but since then haven't met anyone. We both wear lime green Mickey heads and ribbons on our bags and we usually put a lime green Mickey in out room window that says DIS on it. If you see it feel free to drop us a note or say HI!!!!

OK, so I'm geared up for the wearin' o' the (DIS) green, and I'm not shy about going up to someone and asking if they are on the DIS!

Here's my question...

How do you pronounce DIS? :confused3

Do you spell it out, like "Hi, do you D-I-S?"

Say it like "diss?"

Or like "diz" as in the first syllable of Disney?

I always try to say 'hi'...if I'm close by, I'll just say 'DIS??' If someone has something lime green hanging off 'em, I'm assuming they want to be recognized. Well, except for that one lady I said 'hello' to at Soarin' a year ago...she had the lime green Mickey head, lime green ribbons..the whole thing going on. When I said 'Hi, love the DIS stuff.' she just looked at me like I had 25 heads and continued talking to her friend. But, other that that, people have been quite happy to be recognized.

Oh, how I know that feeling! I saw a lady in the women's restroom with a lime green shirt on and asked her, "Are you with the Dis Board"? and she looked at me like I had a snake on my head. She was very nice, though after I explained to her what the Dis Board was. :goodvibes

Everyone I've met pronounces it "diz", like the first syllable of Disney, but that's not saying it's the "right" way it's supposed to be.
