Green Mickey Heads,,Why ?

I'm here to tell ya that I hang my sign with pride at my site and if your going by I almost expect you to stop by and say HEY. Whether it's from the road or standing at my door I will smile and respond. I never gave it a thought that there would be people who would go through the trouble of making ears and setting them up and then not wanting to interact with others who do the same.(maybe I am just nutz)

If you come by my site you will get conversation and an offer of beverage and I will even feed you if it's that time of day. We have met several Dis'ers at the fort along with some at other places other than the fort and I wouldn't trade the time I've spent with these people for anything, even the ones that steal or move my sign.

In case you didn't get the jist of my post (I know I write poorly) I am agreeing with Frank and everyone else who thinks that if you display a sign expect me to drop by and at least say HEY!

Right on! And good info....when at the Fort the KFK clan will search you out around feedin' time! :thumbsup2 Or better yet, we'll find you in advance and then show up when we see the grill fired up.

I caught one such stalker on camera. I shall remain silent.

 Did they see you take their photo? If so did they burn rubber gettin' outta there or did they continue their stalking?

My stalker was in a car. I don't know what kind, but it was blue.

I would not make a very good celebrity. One little stalker and I was tempted to pull up my ears.

I also think there is another kind of DISer that while they hang their ears and are happy to meet other DISers that stop by their site while they are home, they don't actively look around the Fort to find other DISers, and they don't spend a lot of time AT their campsite for DISers to find them.

On some of my trips I am that way. My annual December trip for example. There are four days during that trip that I'm at the parks from can to can't and don't have an opportunity to hang with DISers.

Some of us also have spouses that "don't quite get it" so we have to do what they want "sometimes"

For the record, we love your spouse, even if he likes another team in Alabama...;)
And as for the people who go to the parks (and you of all people should not put yourself EVER in this category, EVER) and make the most of your stay, while you are at the parks just take the sign down. How hard is this? Maybe Donnie's color system might work after all.

There are some trips we go on that I don't put my sign out at all. On these trips, I go to the parks. Because of my RV, people usually find me anyways:lmao:. It just seems to me that the whining about not finding people on the board has gotten out of hand and the people putting up mickey heads that really don't want to meet people and are rude about it has also increased. I don't want to get on the stalkers again...

 Did they see you take their photo? If so did they burn rubber gettin' outta there or did they continue their stalking?

They saw me, every single time they rode by my site. They even stopped and talked to other people once every 8 times.

I'll be the day after Labor Day for 10 days. My green mickey head hangs proudly on the front of the T@B and I don't mind meeting Diser's.

Some of us also have spouses that "don't quite get it" so we have to do what they want "sometimes"

Then there's mine - who TOTALLY didn't get the whole DIS boards thing for the longest time - who now lurks over my shoulder when I'm online and keeps asking me "is anyone we 'know' gonna be there when we are??"

I also ask when I pick up at, or for the Fort, if there are any Fiends on board. I've met a few that way. But the chances are slim.

Given how often we'll be riding Fort buses in Nov, hopefully we'll be one of the few.

>...But if you have green ears anywhere on your site, I'm stopping. If you go by my site, bang on the door. I'm sure I'm not doing anything of any importance anyway. If I'm not there leave a $5 bill with your site number on it.[/QUOTE]

Does it have to be a REAL $5 bill?

As for us... we'll be pretty easy to spot. Look for the lunatics with 3 border collies bouncing around at their camp site.

And if you're at the dog park in the a.m., we're the ones with a huge lime green jolly ball!

We will be arriving on the 23rd of Sept and I am looking forward to meeting as many disers as I can. We will be out looping in our GC, our ears will be proudly displayed and our underwear will be on the line! If you stalk me, just don't be surprised if I come out to to introduce myself. That's just the way I roll... :)

You talkin' to me? ARE YOU TALKIN' TO ME!? :lmao:

Just kidding! I posted that I saw a few ears but didn't meet the DisBoarders that went with the ears.

But, it wasn't for a lack of effort.

We nearly burned the tires off the golf cart looping and looking for ears and we even left notes.

One fellow fiend found me (after a note exchange) by knocking on the door, but I'm the friendly sort, so I came right out and had a chat. Even went back by his site hoping to meet his wife and other child, but they weren't there.

I met another by repeatedly driving by until I saw signs of life and started yelling to them from the golf cart. Got out and had another great chat. The DH's and my DS7 even got in on the convo.

I met yet another by chance as I was coming out of the Meadows Trading Post. He was wearing a white hat with lime green ears on the front. Being the friendly sort, I immediately approached and introduced myself. Even got to meet his DW and DD as they came out of the TP.

I tried to meet one in the cabins, but just found out that her ears kept falling out of the window. She only had a GC for 1 day and did have ears displayed on the cart. Oh well, at least she tried.

If ever you see my ears at the Fort...PLEASE introduce yourself. Don't stalk me as Jen said, just walk right up and say Hi. (I actually think I had a stalker.) Not very cool. Even If you're a lurker I'd rather you introduce yourself as such. I met a lovely lurker at the beach this year and we're now friends on FB. You never know when and where you could make a new friend. So don't be shy!

If I see any of your ears i will yell at you from the street, hunt you, leave you a note, but beyond that what can i do? I am hoping next years hunt for Fiends is more productive. Although this is not to slight the ones I did meet! I was thrilled to meet all 3 of you! ;)

I agree with everyone, a lot of time and effort is spent searching out fellow fiends, so if you don't want to be met don't display the LG ears. If you're not going to display the colors or some sort of sign don't post your dates so we don't spend valuable Fort time looking for you. We'll never find you anyway. Luckily I was never treated rudely as some have said, I guess I was just ignored. :rolleyes1

I just re-read my post, I think it sounds nasty, I don't mean to be, please don't take it that way. I just enjoy meeting everyone. When I first joined this board I didn't even post because I felt I had nothing to add. I am also very shy (thou people who know me would say WHAT) but I am until I know someone. So when we used to go looping my Son would get mad at me if I didn't stop and say hi to someone with green ears. I was afraid that I was intruding on their vacation time. In time I came to realize that they were like me and enjoyed the company. So sorry if I came off nasty

Just as long as u don't come out in your green thongs :rotfl::rotfl:

Carol not meaning you at all, we know how you feel about Diser's, I also know what it is to have a DH that doesn't get it (thou now Richie does, and I still love Rick). When you go to the parks alot that is a whole different story.

My green ears are displayed proudly on our windshield. Anyone is welcome to stop by and chat. However, you better really want to talk because my DH really, really, really likes to talke. We enjoy meeting fellow campers and CM at The Fort. Isn't that what it's all about.

The "Non-Camping Resort Snobs" use the Alien Green Mickey head paint samples you can only find at The Home Depot. The manager of the paint dept at THD I worked at made a comment about why the Alien Green sample disappeared faster than any other sample. I just smiled and shrugged my shoulders.

Fiends are more original than the "Non-Camping Resort Snobs". Fiends make BIG signs. Fiends also have the "Tree of Shame" at all gatherings. For those of you not in the know, the "Tree of Shame" has pictures of all the Fiends who wanted to be at the GG, but for whatever reason, couldn't make it. Fiends want ALL Fiends to be present at GG's - even if it's by picture only.

I choose to be different and not use the green mickey sign. I put an otter wearing a red hat & a Disney t-shirt in my front window. Several Fiends have found me this way. Why don't I use a sign? Well, mainly because I never made one. Jen has come to my rescue & has made me a sign. She even said, "Here's your sign!" Jen loves me. :lovestruc

Now, my DH is a different story. He's one of those that is not into Disboards or chat boards of any kind. He kinda gets his hairy green thong in a wad if I spend (what he perceives as) too much time with my Fellow Fiends. Once we have "the talk", he sees things my way and comes and meets everyone. He even enjoys himself and the other Fiends!! But, he will never consider himself to be a Fiend.

I love to meet Fellow Fiends, and once I actually get my sign from Jen, it will be proudly displayed in my front window along with Wynottah Ottah. For those of you who have never met Wynottah, here she is and now you know what to look for....

First of all let me say this. I was at the last
Halloween gg and fishing frank aka born2fish aka not the better half of 2 goofy campers did not look me up although he visited everyone else. So with that said he WILL NOT hunt you down.

Now, about this otter. Can someone please cap this thing. I'll buy the window if you are sucessful.

HEY ! How many times did you stop by our campsite ??? We were at your site on 4 different occasions , on 3 different days !! AND YOU DIDN"T EVEN HAVE A GREEN MICKEY OUT that I could see !!
AND we were at a few meet and drink,uh, I mean, meet and greets and you weren't there !
AND on our last night we drove by Carols to say good bye, everyone was there,,,BUT YOU WEREN'T THERE !!

but thats okay,,as I understand that your time was occupied by a new "squeeze" that you were entertaining, :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I just have to say that I would love to meet you guys at the Fort one of these days!!!

Unfortunately, I came home empty-handed this last trip. :headache:
My malfunctioning ears, coupled with almost no looping time, short stay, and KFK's serious lack of stalking skills :rolleyes1 all contributed to my not getting to see anyone.

Having said that - if I didn't want to meet anyone, I would not put up green ears (or attempt to) if I didn't want someone to come a knockin' on my door! That's kind of the point, I think. I hate to hear that people have been rude about it.

I would love to meet everyone while at the Fort. I must admit in the past I have been a little shy about stopping by campsites with green ears (although I have not driven by without atleast waving), but I would love to MEET other fiends. The last 2 trips Ive had a GC (newly addicted to looping) and wanted to stop by and say hello but didnt want to impose, being new to the boards and all. Now that I know its okay to stop in or yell hello from the street, well im all in! I have displayed my ears the last 2 trips and on 1 occasion had a driveby greeting. Please feel free to stop on by if you see my ears and im at the campsite have a cold beer, cold drink, or stop in and chat for while. Its usually just myself and the 3 kids camping so I would love some adults to converse with. Anyway just wanted to apologize if ive offended any one in the past, and I will do better in the future:thumbsup2 Look forward to meeting Fellow Fiends on our next trip. We'll be at the fort Sept 16-23 most likely in 1500 or 2000 since we tent camp, hope to see you there.:woohoo:

Deb, your sign was there to come and get while we were there, and we will be there Labor Day too....Lorna, Richie, Donnie, and the rest of us (and your adopted grandson) expect a visit!

BTW-Donnie has a sign too...

And BradyBz12...your sign is done as well

who next?
