I need help, while swimming in the pool with my 10 yo daughter tonight, I noticed her hair is turning green! :scared1: She's in a wedding next weekend!

Any suggestions how to get it out of her hair, I know its from the chlorine in the pool.

She must be a blond. I know there is a special shampoo for that, but I don't know the name. Not a big help am I? You could ask at your local pharmacy or your hairdresser.

maybe try using a baby shampoo or head and shoulders? Not sure if it will work but they always leave my hair feeling stripped down.
I also found this on an answer website. (The Best product ive used is From Sallybeauty There are locations all over the country..

The product is called Ion Anti-Chlorine Swimmer's Shampoo.....They also have a conditioner (Ion Anti-Chlorine Swimmer's conditioner)....
Hope it all works out for you)

some even said to try ketchup or tomatoe juice. Hope you guys can figure it out in time :)

We use an anti chlorine shampoo in the summer for my 9 year old daughters blondish hair- she gets a green tint if we dont. She is getting her hair tips dyed blue next week and I am hoping the chlorine doesn't screw up that color.

Don't do the ketchup!!!! We did and the bathroom looked like a horror movie. As well DD smelled like hot dogs for days.

Both kids and about 20 others ended up with green hair after a pool party last weekend.

DS had bright green hair and scalp. He washed once with a kid brand shampoo, L'Oreal for swimmers. And he was back to blond.

Other kids used various methods and they are all back to normal the only one who isn't is my DD. We have tried:

Vinegar
Baking Soda
L'Oreal
Ketchup
Lemon Juice
Shimmer White
Neutrogena
Paul Mitchell clarifying shampoo
Ion Anti-Chlorine Swimmer's Shampoo (had to drive to the USA to get it)

Nothing has worked, on Monday her hairdresser will be dying her hair :(

Loreal makes a swim and sport shampoo that works for my blondie. It's a kids shampoo (blue one) I think it's orange scented.

Good luck.

Cholrine is not what is causing the hair to turn green but the copper that is also in the pool water. If swimming shampoos dont work your hair stylist should be able to get the green out without dying hair. I can't remember the name of the product by only licensed hair stylist can order it.

To prevent the hair from turning green in the future wet the hair before getting in the pool. This way the hair has asorbed the regular water not the pool water. It also wouldnt hurt to put some conditioner on the wet hair. This will prevent any metals in the water from being absorbed in the hair.

I can't link cuz I'm on my phone, but what you're talking about is Malibu treatment - www.malibuwellness.com

Her stylist should NOT NOT NOT have to dye her hair. No way.

Find a salon that does malibu treatments.

There is a shampoo you can buy to try and get it out. Not sure of the name. Also, a salon has some special stuff they can use to get it out (seen it tonight while getting my brows waxed). I would try the shampoo at the drug store first, it might be cheaper.

Prell and lemmonade Kool aide mix it together and put it in the hair then let it stay for a few minutes and wash out. Also Paul Mitchell has a shampoo for swimmers I use it as a clarifying shampoo the day before I color my hair.

We would use a swimmers shampoo and conditioner in my hair to remove the green tint that was left after swim season. Sorry I can't recall the brand as it was ages ago. I would also recommend that she wears a cap at least until the wedding is over the help the green disapate. If all else fails just embrace it as part of being a blond.

:headache: Whats so bad about GREEN hair?:snooty:

Redken Cleansing Creme Shampoo & and Crystal Light lemonade. Use one of the single pack of CL & 1-2 T of the RCC. Cover with cap for 10-15 mins. & then cond well. As others have said getting the hair wey first will help in the future. and washing as soon as you can My kids use the Loreal swimmers every day in the summer.
